Alright, this might be a stretch for INTJf, but we'll see...
NBA PLAYOFFS ARE GOIN' DOWN! Who do you got coming out of each conference, and who do you got taking it all? Any other insights? I'm pulling for Portland and LA; Portland might hang in there, but I bet they lose in 7, and LA looks old as fuck against an extremely talented Thunder team. ---------- Post added 04-27-2010 at 05:08 PM ---------- Do or die for the Lakers tonight! Looks like I might be the only one who gives a shit here, lol. |

I think LA might be able to pull it out. I am really excited to watch the Thunder, who have been doing all sorts of stuff. Kevin Durant might be the morst dyanmic scorer I've ever seen, but the only thing that concerns is that they're young and don't really have a defensive presence down low. Portland looks like it loses a player every game, so I'd probably give the edge to the Suns, though they've been surprising too.
I'm happy about Boston though. They looked like they were done heading into the series. But then I guess Miami could only play Dwayne Wade at one position without the clone machine perfected yet. |

I wanna see Atlanta and Boston go at it. Maybe even Cleveland.
Whoever wins East will win the whole thing. West has good teams, but the East is truly dominating the NBA. |

I'm watching the NHL playoffs, but since there's not a thread I just figured I'd throw that in here. Same season, different (better) sport.

It's probably no secret that on a forum like this, we have to take what we can get!

1. GO WINGS!
2. Why does Phoenix, AZ. have a hockey team? I mean...Phoenix? Arizona? As in cactus? Desert? The Land of The Golf Course? |

Yeah I'm a real purist when it comes to hockey. I live in Carolina but I'm not a Carolina fan... However, a friend of mine knew I was a hockey fan and so bought me a Carolina jersey. ... SO, when they were recently in the finals against Edmonton, I went to a sports bar with my Carolina jersey on and proceeded to root for Edmonton. The Canadians deserve The Cup over any southern team in my opinion. Almost got into a bar fight with another chick over it! :D (But Carolina ended up winning, so I took the opportunity to get my picture with The Cup. A girl's gotta have priorities.) |

Damn. An NBA thread gets hijacked by the NHL fans. Back to the NBA. I'm a Spurs fan. Generally a Western Conference fan except for LA, but also enjoy watching Cuban as his team is beaten by the old Spurs, which is a great first round match up. I like Portland, Nate Mc was at NC State when I was there and I've always like Nate. Got to like OkC's youth. Orlando is looking good as well. Don't count LA out, Kobe was playing mind games Sunday night, letting his teammates realize just how much they need him. LaBron is amazing, but I still Orlando is the better team. And the ancient Celtics are stepping up once again. I usually really enjoy the NBA playoffs, and I think this year will be a good one.

Spurs got RAPED tonight by the Mavs!
I still think San Antonio will get it done in 6, but the Mavs won't go quietly. Cavs finished off the Bulls, LeBron says his elbow is no biggie, but we'll see. Someone said the Celtics are a proud team, and they'll fight to the death, age be damned. I don't think it will be easy at all, despite what Barkeley seems to think. And the Lakers looked great tonight. The Thunder will be competing for championships in a year or two, but not yet! |

The NBA playoffs this year are actually giving me a complex.
I was born, raised, and am expected to be a Lakers fan; I was born in LA. However, the couple of games I've gotten to watch this year (not having a TV or a regular work schedule is horrid) were from this series. I have been cheering for the Thunder. I try to rationalize this by saying that I want an "interesting series." Other than that, it's been the most interesting first round in ages. I hope that carries throughout the entire playoffs. |

I'd pay good money to see the Lakers go down to the Thunder. I'm not too surprised the Mavs whipped the Spurs last night, but I expect the Spurs will squeak out a win to end the series. Some teams are inconsistent from their youth, and some teams are inconsistent from old age, the Spurs are well into the stage of being inconsistent due to age/wear and tear. Kobe is heading in that direction as well. While not old, he has been in the league 14 years! He is not as consistently a high performer as he was a few years ago.
I love the playoffs and was quite disappointed to see that I needed the NBA Network to watch some of last night's games. I don't have the NBA Network. |

I turned away from the NHL when the Whalers moved away. Ever since then I've had a burning hatred for places that have hockey teams where they don't make any sense to have hockey. The one thing that I know that I'd do if I ever had a lot of money is go and buy the Carolina Hurricanes and bring them back to Hartford.
As for the NBA, I think that this the year Lebron needs to win a championship if he really wants to go down as one of the greatest players of all time. Especially because this might be the last year that he'll be in Cleveland to do it and that city lives and breathes to watch Lebron play. |

Dallas should have saved some of that game 5 energy for game 6. Go Spurs!

But I still got LA, and they looked AWESOME in game 5. |

Alright, the shitfest that was Milwaukee vs Atlanta is over and we can move on.
East: Cavs vs Celtics : Celtics are too old to pull this off, Cavs stepped up in the back half of Game 1, I got Cavs in 6, maybe 5. Magic vs Hawks : Magic by whatever they want. Magic in 5, if not 4. West: Lakers vs Jazz : Kobe looked great today, and Lamar was pretty clutch in the 4th. The Jazz are banged up, and the Lakers match up better with the Jazz than they did with the Thunder. Lakers in 6, maybe 5. Spurs vs Suns : A southwest shootout! GOOD power forward match up there. Nash can't play defense, so I'll go spurs on the strength of Ginobli and Parker. Spurs in 7, maybe 6. |

Would love to see Lakers v Celtics in the final. It would be just like the old days with Kareem, Bird, Magic, etc.
Prediction: Lakers win the championship. Seems like they always find a way when backed into a corner. |

The Suns have surprised me. I'm not sure they have the size to get it done against LA in the Western Conference Finals, but they've definitely surprised me thus far.
