...Am I over-stepping my bounds in asking what those forum names, product names and website URLs are?

This is not a comprehensive list but some of the forums that shouldn't be mentioned are:

Some other forum
Some other forum
Some other forum
Some other forum
And some other forum

Posting a list of sites that have been guilty of link dropping kind of defeats the purpose of removing their ability to successfully link drop which negates the purpose of the filter, so no, we won't negate the purpose of the filter.

Hmm it only appears while I'm logged on.

Yes, that's because it only appears to you, others cannot see your deleted posts and you cannot see theirs.

I agree with Syntax. I think the decision to not post the filter list openly will have two related negative consequences. One is that I think members will want to know which other forums are being hidden from view purely because they are hidden with no list provided.

The other is that I suspect some members will simply do a vbulletin search and post all forums related to MBTI on the internet, legally and within the forum rules, without any attempt at evasion, simply to have the same level of knowledge that other members do before making posts. That appears to be allowable per this thread. Just my opinion.

As LionsPride already explained, listing them defeats the purpose of the rule.

The "level of knowledge" argument is silly. If your post gets filtered then you'll know that the site you were trying to discuss or link has been advertised and is now filtered. Until then there is no reason for anyone to know or care about the forum filter. I read a zillion posts on the forum and only come across a post that has been filtered a few times a month. Most forum users have probably never seen a post that's been filtered and have never had any of their posts filtered. There are tons of websites and forums that are not filtered and a few that are because someone advertised them. Why does everyone need a list that includes obscure religious or political or defunct MBTI forums that someone tried to advertise here and are now filtered?

It seems to me like that would basically be evading the filters, and essentially advertisement of the sites which aren't on the filters. The whole point is that the admins have said they don't want other sites advertised here, for a variety of reasons.

That reminds me, there was a poll done on some other forum that touched upon the topic of censorship in which more than 70% of the forum-voters took a stance against censoring material. You can see the results of that poll here: http://************************/showthread.php?t=4707

Polls at other forums are completely irrelevant to the operation of this one. That's the whole point of the No Advertising rule, this forum is not an extension of any others and spamming this forum with links to other forums is not allowed.

You can think of the forum filter as censorship if you like. It's not. It is a time-saving tool to help the moderators prevent advertising on the forum. If the sites weren't automatically filtered then the moderators would be instructed to delete the posts containing the ones that are problematic.
