I came across this book today at Barnes and Noble and was so incredibly mesmerized. I decided to see what images I could find online. I suspect some of you might enjoy this as well. Feel free to share additional images and information as desired.

Wow, I was actually thinking about those images when I clicked this thread. Really! I added a couple of them to the avatar gallery a few days ago.

My inspiration was sparked by a national geographic article. They also have a photo gallery. (not nearly as thorough as the site in the OP though!)

French philosopher and mathematician René Descartes penned the first detailed account of snow crystal structure in 1637. Three and a half centuries—and countless blizzards—since, scientists still can't fully explain how snowflakes form their unique shapes.

KEWL!
Really, wow! *reads the article*
I've always wondered how snowflakes worked.

Is it true that no two are like? O

Yup, no two snowflakes are alike!

One day I'd like to capture snowflakes in resin so that I can look at them under a magnifying glass. They're very cool.
