No, actually, you were banned for excessive chatspeak.

You were not banned for making a joke. You were asked repeatedly (by at least 4 different moderators) to stop spamming the chat with smilies, posting chatspeak, and personally attacking other chatters. When it became clear that you were unable or unwilling to change your behaviour you were banned.

Yes. The chatroom is essentially an extension of the Lounge and similar rules apply:

3. Sharing links is fine, but users joining only to advertise will be banned.

4. Register your INTJ Forum username as your chatroom nickname. Although we will not force users to use their INTJ Forum username at all times, we want to ensure that everyone's username on the forum is available to them in the chatroom. If you register a username that isn't your forum username and someone else uses it on the forum, it will be unregistered so it is available to them even if they joined the forum after you started using the name.

5. Respect the privacy of other users. Do not share private messages you have received on the forum or other personal information about other members that has not been posted publicly.

6. Type legibly. Do not type in ALL CAPS, use excessive chatspeak, or chat in languages other than English.

7. No bots.

Apparently they have a different definition of what excessive chat-speak amounts to. I tend to even text message in full english, and some people think that's discourteous, and a breaking of text message etiquette.

I was going to give you an answer, but didn't want to have fingers shaken at me, so... I hope this gives you a laugh.

It wasn't just excessive chatspeak. There were a lot of variations of calling people closeminded and saying you wished you had more intelligent people to chat with during discussions when people disagreed with you, interrupting discussions other people were having when you admittedly had nothing to contribute to their conversation but wanted them to stop talking to each other and pay attention to you and your personal issues instead, and spamming the room with smileys and lines of punctuation (;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;) for no apparent reason.

This ban isn't up for negotiation.
