I don't know what to make of this exactly. But I am often annoyed by Dr. Temperance Brennan from the show "Bones". Her character seems too exaggerated. Your thoughts?

I think that the "unsocialized geek-ette" characterization is boring and affected. The tensions between some of the "realistic" characters is what keeps the series going for me. Unfortunately Zack going away and coming back took something away from the show. And the search for the elusive ex-husband of Montenegro is getting tiresome.

I may not watch the show much longer.

Exaggerated, with bouts of completely "normal" behaviour. *I think if anyone was really THAT awkward, there wouldn't be much schmoozing and comraderie with a partner or anyone else. *And probably more reluctance to go out and catch bad guys rather than stay in the lab. *I don't know, she just doesn't seem like a very realistic character. *Then again, if the actress is naturally different and the writers are as well, I suppose it might be hard for them to write that kind of character with a lot of success, and hard for her to portray the character correctly.

I haven't seen this season, by the way. *Anything interesting going on?

I enjoy the show it's probably because I love the books. The characters are different the cities are different and the books deal with plot much better.

Showing my ignorance here ... there were books? Before or after the series?

I personally enjoy it; however I have only seen the first season in its entirety. It's been so long I don't remember their names, so I will have to say the character I liked the least was Boone?? (The FBI agent played by that Buffy the Vampire guy?).

Then again, I'm a fan of both Zoey and Emily Deschanel, in general. I love their quirkiness.

I've been keeping this show on recently--I'm not ready to commit with it full-time just yet (as in planning certain nights around making sure to watch it when it's on), but it's more entertaining to me than any of the other criminal investigation type shows.

This is one of those shows I watch about two or three episodes of per season. It's just fairly elementarily and predictably written. I like it when Bones discusses religion with the David Boreanaz character (I never remember names from shows) and the crazy ways the writers keep finding to solve any criminal case purely by looking at bones are interesting, but it's too much of a niche show (with awkwardly inserted comedy) to really follow.

Yes to the book questions. Author Kathy Reichs wrote several books about Bones before the show and still writes them today a great series, like I said the only real common thread is Temperance. The books are much better by far.
