I cut the following from a link on another thread:

loner, more interested in intellectual pursuits than relationships or family, not very altruistic, not very complimentary, would rather be friendless than jobless, observer, values solitude, perfectionist, detached, private, not much fun, hidden, skeptical, does not tend to like most people, socially uncomfortable, not physically affectionate, unhappy, does not talk about feelings, hard to impress, analytical, likes esoteric things, tends to be pessimistic, not spontaneous, prone to discontentment, guarded, does not think they are weird but others do, responsible, can be insensitive or ambivalent to the misfortunes of others, orderly, clean, organized, familiar with darkside, tends not to value organized religion, suspicious of others, can be lonely, rarely shows anger, punctual, finisher, prepared

My question: Which of the above (let's limit this to 5 each) would you identify with most/least? I'll start.

Most: (in no particular order) not very complimentary, values solitude, analytical, does not tend to like most people, guarded.

Least: (again, in no particular order) unhappy, prone to discontentment, hidden, can be lonely, tends to be pessimistic.

Hmm. Much more difficult to pick the least.

Most:
socially uncomfortable
loner
rarely shows anger
detached
observer

Least:
guarded (doubt anyone has anything to do to me)
does not think they are weird but others do (everyone hints this to me, so I guess it finally affected me)
hard to impress (depends on what)
would rather be friendless than jobless (Somehow I'm perfectly fine unemployed)
prone to discontentment (because some things aren't meeting goals)

I can't get it down to 5 each....

I've labeled 19 in the "Most" category, and 17 in the "Least", while leaving altruistic, esoteric, and discontentment unranked, as I'm not familiar enough with what they mean.

From this list I wittled it down to 11 Mosts, and 6 Leasts.

Most (no particular order):

Values intellectual pursuits over relationships
Observer
Detached
Private
Skeptical
Doesn't like most people
Doesn't talk about feelings
Hard to impress
Analytical
Guarded
Responsible

Least (no particular order):

Would rather be friendless than jobless. (I'd rather have friends and no job, so long as I've got some hobby or studying to keep me focused).
Values solitude (I like some alone time, and few friends...not SOLITUDE).
Unhappy. (Why do people think we're unhappy!?!??!?!?!?!!)
Orderly/Clean/Organized (I lumped these all together, I'm none of them)
Familiar w/ Darkside (What?......What the hell is this?)
Punctual (lol...not me at ALL. But I get pissed when others are late.)

Interesting.

Most:
can be insensitive or ambivalent to the misfortunes of others
responsible
detached
hard to impress
socially uncomfortable

Least:
rarely shows anger
finisher
unhappy
not very altruistic
clean

I may not be clean but I am organized. Isn't being able to find things according to the layers of sediment things accumulate in a form of organization?

I'm ambivalent about "does not tend to like most people" because in I do love everybody in theory but in practice I've found that no, I don't tend to like most people.

this was quite difficult to narrow down at all

most
prone to discontentment
not very complimentary
observer
values solitude
perfectionist
detached
private
does not tend to like most people
socially uncomfortable
not physically affectionate
analytical
not spontaneous
organized
tends not to value organized religion
can be lonely
rarely shows anger
prepared

least
more interested in intellectual pursuits than relationships or family (love intellectual pursuits but family is most important)
not very altruistic
would rather be friendless than jobless (perhaps due to having few close friends, I/we value them more highly than someone who has many)
guarded
does not think they are weird but others do (I acknowledge different-ness ..but maintain it is everyone else is ‘weird’. Or at least, I’m hoping so..)

That could be true, I only have a couple close friends left from my ever-so-slightly more social phase (adolescence) and I can't remember what we used to have in common that made us such good friends in the first place. Never the less, it's good to know they're around to keep me from being a complete hermit.

...Or it could also be that some INTJ's don't mind being unemployed and having all the time in the world for research, study, hobbies, or just to think. It seems like we're always working on something, whether it's a real job or not. I don't think an INTJ is one to just sit around watching daytime television.

(Both are true for me.)

I am organized too then. Everyone else may think my apartment is in disorder, but I usually know just where I put something.

Is very hard to only pick 5, so here is my list

Most:

detached
Private
hard to impress
analytical
does not think they are weird but others do
responsible
can be lonely
rarely shows anger
prepared
skeptical

Least:

does not talk about feelings
Tend to be pessimistic
more interested in intellectual pursuits
would rather be friendless than jobless
guarded
insensitive or ambivalent to the misfortunes of others

I think I need to explain this one a little further: more interested in intellectual pursuits

I'm extremely interested in intellectual pursuits, but will not put it above my immediate family. Although, it is essential for me in order to keep the family going, so I'll say 50/50 on it.

Cool thread.

I'm all of those things to some degree... yeah, there are big parts of me that rely more on my work than on my friendships for my daily fulfillment... but I'm not really that extreme.

Identify with most:
Skeptical
Guarded
Does not think they are weird but others do
Responsible
Prepared

Identify with least:
Not much fun
Does not tend to like most people
Not physically affectionate
Can be insensitive or ambivalent to the misfortunes of others
Orderly

Unhappy. (Why do people think we're unhappy!?!??!?!?!?!!)

This bugs me too, I'm pretty sure we're happy and unhappy about as often as other personality types, on average. Other people probably think we're unhappy because when they imagine themselves in our shoes, they recognize that they would be unhappy doing the things we do. I could say the same about them. Its also the case that the popular notion of happiness applies more to EF type personalities, and so those people imagine that we are unhappy because we don't tend to experience that type of happiness. Our kind of happiness is usually on a more deeper level, and is difficult to see from the outside.

I completely agree with this. Just because I am not laughing out loud all the time and not "touchy-feely" (the latter makes my skin crawl), I consider myself very happy and content with my life.

Does not think they are weird but others do (I know I am a bit different, that's part of my charm

Not very complimentary is what bugs me the most, have to remind myself to compliment people when they do something well.

Least: not very altruistic, not much fun, not physically affectionate, tends to be pessimistic, suspicious of others.
