Okay, I'll completely admit to Mr. Darcy. However, the rest of my list...this goes no further than INTJforum, right?

Jareth the Goblin King from Labyrinth, not David Bowie, mind you
Lucius Malfoy
Tom Riddle (pre-reptilian)
Nishikado Sojirou from Hana Yori Dango
John Galt

Hmm...it seems that I go for arrogance.

Name the actresses you're attracted to, and I will tell you what your type is.

Will you now? Alright, I'll bite.

Scarlett Johansson, January Jones, and Christina Hendricks are the ones who immediately come to mind.

Has anyone noticed that Hollywood tends to demonize logical-analytical thinking? Is this a pro-emotion campaign of some kind where the intellect must be made into an enemy? I'm not sure I get it.

Nope, noone's ever noticed that. Ever. In all of history. It's never happened.

I've never been 'in love' with a fictional character, but these are some of my favorites, and I'm sure I would find the qualities of some of these characters quite attractive in a real person.

Hari Seldon (Foundation)
Salvor Hardin (Foundation)
Sydney Carton (Tale of Two Cities)
Ben Linus (LOST)
Paul Atreides (Dune)
Atticus Finch (To Kill A Mockingbird)
Ellen Ripley (Alien/Aliens)
Severus Snape (HP)
Clint Eastwood's Character (Gran Torino)
Light Yagami (Death Note)
Gordon Gekko (Wall Street)

And pretty much any player character from any Western RPG I have ever played, since I usually just roleplay them so that they are clones of myself.

I thought that liking fictional characters was just a phase for me. But then Firefly came out and Kaylee melted my heart. Harry Potter 6 came out, and Ginny Weasley was unbearably attractive. Those are just physical attraction things, though.

Chie from Persona 4 was close to an actual 'in love with' I guess a healthy person could be with a fictional character. By 'in love with', I think that if such a person really existed, I would fall for them real quick.

Mulder

The thought process, body language, speech patterns are all very evolved. Much can be gained by studying this character.

Rhodry Maelwydd from Katherine Kerrs Deverry Series. Who can resist an exotic man-elf outcast with a sword. Really! Brooding, complex, characteristically un-macho & intelligent. lovestruck:

Have you ever seen the one called " living Austen"
where the chick takes out her cell phone and snaps a picture of him coming out?? hahahahah too bad it wasn't colin-firth-mr-dary

Alyosha from The Brothers Karamazov
Aragorn
Linus Van Pelt
Edward Rochester from Jane Eyre
Spock (TOS)
Tristram, Percival and maybe Launcelot from King Arthur
Barnaby from Edward Eager's kid's books (Half Magic, etc)

Maybe Prospero from The Tempest; I'm not sure he quite makes the cut.

I shall take love to mean three different things. In each case, I shall attempt to list in rough order of preference (greatest to least).

1. Characters whose personalities cause me to have a romantic interest in dating them:
the second Romanadvoratnelundar (Lalla Ward on Doctor Who)
Miriya Parino Sterling (Robotech)
Willow Rosenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Eowyn (particularly as played by Miranda Otto)
Cordelia Vorkosigan ("Shards of Honor" and "Barrayar", by Lois McMaster Bujold)
All three Addams women (Wednesday, Morticia and Grandma), in the recent movie versions (particularly Grandma: "It's a curse! Have a nice day.")
Hermione Granger (once she eventually graduates from high school, that is)
Ariane Emory ("Cyteen", by C.J. Cherryh)
Temperance Brennan (Bones)
Susan Ivanova (Babylon 5)
Daria Morgendorfer (Daria)
Anzha lyu Mitethe ("In Conquest Born", by C.S. Friedman)

Analysis: I like brilliant, socially awkward women who could kick my ass in a fight. All of the actual women I have ever dated share at least some personality characteristics with many of the above.

2. Characters who remind me very pleasantly of me, and who I wish I were even more like:
Odysseus (the original Homer, not Sean Bean)
Aral Vorkosigan (same Bujold books; Cordelia's husband)
Magneto (as played by Sir Ian McKellen)
Captain Edmund Blackadder (series four)
Skandranon Rashkae ("The Black Gryphon", by Mercedes Lackey)
Saetan Daemon SaDiablo ("Daughter of the Blood" & others, by Anne Bishop)
Breetai (Robotech)
Gerald Tarrant ("When True Night Falls" & others, by C.S. Friedman)
Zatar, son of Vinir ("In Conquest Born", by C.S. Friedman)
Skaffen Amtiskaw ("Use of Weapons", by Iain M. Banks)
Evan Orgell ("Sentenced to Prism", by Alan Dean Foster)
Fingolfin (Tolkien's Silmarillion)

Analysis: most of these are not, in fact, human. The few humans are psychologically aliens within their own culture, and also consummate problem-solvers (a mix of both strategic and tactical) with wicked senses of humor. This is true of the nonhumans as well, but in those roles I can imagine myself both fitting in better and having more fun, as well as having better access to my feelings (including as a robot, as with the Iain M. Banks character).

3. There is a three, but I can't talk about it. I tried, but I can't. The pain is still too deep. Maybe in another thirty years. Sometimes I think I'm not a 99th percentile T at all, but instead a severely traumatized F.

4. Then there are the characters who I don't love, or even necessarily like, but in whom I see eerily much (perhaps too much) of myself:
Anatoly Sergievsky and Freddie Trumper, of the musical "Chess" (every angry, alienated INTx, and those who care about them, needs to

, or at least
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
, Freddie's big song, "Pity the Child")
Sweeney Todd, of the musical of the same name
Darth Vader
The Prince from Romeo and Juliet. He's the only character in the entire Shakespeare canon who ever really seemed familiar. He spends the whole play as a bewildered bystander, horrified by the insane behavior of everyone around him, saving it all up for one exclamation at the end, which boils down to, "What the fuck is wrong with you people?"

[HIDE="random reference"]Buffy fans take note -- the guy singing in the YouTube recording I linked to, the original Freddie on the London stage, is Murray Head, the elder brother of Anthony Stewart Head, who played Giles. Anthony took over the role on stage after his brother left the cast.[/HIDE]

Mine would include the character of Dr. Who as portrayed by almost any actor (although I'm partial to the 9th and 11th Doctors); Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown in Back to the Future; Sherlock Holmes; Schroeder from Peanuts (I've always had a thing for emotionally unavailable men); and Duckie Dale from Pretty In Pink (I have a thing for hopeless romantics, too). From literature, some of my favorites would include James Elroy's more nerdy/uptight smart boys from his crime fiction novels, like Ed Exley from LA Confidential, and his nerdy-weird guys like Bucky Bleichertt from The Black Dahlia. I wasn't so excited with Josh Hartnett's portrayal of Bucky in the movie, but I can't say I minded watching Guy Pearce as Exley in LA Confidential.

With men having 'relationships' with real dolls these days, I think the idea of "loving a fictional character" (or 'marrying' one) isn't as far-fetched as it might sound. I might not choose to go that far, since I prefer the mental and emotional stimulation of actual interaction with another human being, but I won't be the one to cast the first stone at someone who prefers an imaginary character.

I CANNOT BELIEVE I FORGOT DOCTOR WHO!

I love the Doctor. He's awesome. I did like Ten an immense amount (more so than Nine) but Elven is doing an absolutely amazing job, isn't he?

I'd turn gay for Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly and maybe Nathan Drake from Uncharted series of games, but lets face it, it's the same character
