I was wondering if other people share a similar perception of spatial awareness.

Go to a completely dark room and close yours eyes. Try to not visualize anything in your mind and try to focus on the blackness. Move your arms and fingers around in front of your face. Can you sense where your arms are as if you can literally see something? I can see/sense my arms very well, but I can not see my individual fingers moving or anything.

What about imagining you are moving your body parts without actually moving them? Can you rest your hands at your side and create a similar sensation of seeing/sensing by imagining you are clapping your hands?

Sure. I can close my eyes and create a whole world to run around in, conversations with real or made-up people, whatever. I can add music in the background, and if I really focus, smell and taste as well. It does take a lot of concentration, though.

This is one of the fundamental senses: proprioception.

In the same way that you can imagine sounds and sights, you can also imagine relative location / extra limbs. Right now, I'm imagining a "tail" swishing back and forth growing from my kneecap. Just for the fuck of it.

That is exactly what I'm talking about. If order is arbitrary we can call that our 6th sense. We also can tell that we are moving even if we aren't moving our body parts. That is our 7th.

I would like to know about the visual aspect (if there be one.) When someone does this, how do the visual and body position sense merge together? Can you guys see or feel your fingers? In how much detail do you see these things? When shooting a basektball, do you see a basketball hoop, ball, or court or can you simply imagine only the motion of shooting the ball? The important thing to note is that not everyone does this the same so I'm just interested in how other people can describe it. Especially since I have such a difficult time describing it myself or at least just communicating the description.
