Debate is something only boring people do. 'Cause, yeah, heard that shit already. Give me experiences instead.

I thought it would be fun to start a thread in which we could list books we finished recently and liked. I read so much it seems I go through periods where I don't know what to read, and this thread would surely give me some great suggestions from you guys. If you list it, I will read it.

Anyway, I just finished Soledad Brother, which is a collection of letters from George Jackson while he was in prison. It's a searing indictment against race issues, capitalism, and the prison system. I like books that expose the underbelly of society, especially when they are as beautifully written as this one.

George Jackson was indicted for the robbery of a gas station (armed), and was sentenced to one year to life. (What kind of bunk sentence is that?!) He and two others were charged with killing a white guard in prison. Three days before the trial, George Jackson was shot and killed during an alleged riot in which he was alleged to have a gun. No gun was ever found, and the other two alleged conspirators were acquitted of the guard killing.
