Not too long ago, my bedroom was starting to become swamped with endless art materials. I needed more room to work in, so I got a desk, but it got extremely crowded in there. I made the decision to get rid of my bed and sleep in my sister's room and converted my bedroom into a studio. At first this was great, I was getting so much work done in such an efficient environment! Eventually I began to notice that I started to get a bit sad towards the end of the day, before going to bed. I came to the conclusion that I was missing my room. Weird as it may sound, I think I had some strange connection with it because that's where all my work was; everything there was a part of me. It's been 3 months and I still feel out of place when I sleep in my sister's room.
I joke around saying that I'm cheating on my room with my sister's *:P Anyone else have this "connection"? |

Maybe. I had two sisters. While I was elsewhere, one moved into my room. I visited and grumbled but slept on the couch. At one point, my other sister decided to abandon her own room to sleep on the floor in my room just because she was a large fan of the first sister. I was offered the second sister's room. I was entirely similar to, "You crazy. That's her room. She should use it. What if she suddenly feels like going back to claim her own? I shall be rightfully tossed out while I happen to be sleeping well. Why don't they both go to that room? Give me my own back." But oh well. I am not especially attached. I have no need for attachments.

I have a very strong connection with my room, although I can't stand being in it for more than two seconds when it's dirty... I can't stand keeping my door open for privacy issues (and because I have this belief that it lets out my incense smoke...). Also I just bought a whole new set of furniture, so everything is super tidy and organized. I hate having other people in my room. And when they pick up my stuff to examine it and then don't put it RIGHT back? Ooohh... it irks me so....

my room is basically a storage locker that I sleep in sometimes.
my messy room has always drove my parents crazy, but there was no good reason to clean it (still isn't)! No one EVER goes in there, no one EVER sees it, and if I do go there to sleep thats the only reason I'm in there and don't stay any longer than that. my time is spent in other rooms with q tv or computer, and thoase room I do clean up every so often. |

I have a very deep connection with my room and I need a lot of privacy. I hate it when people are in my room, even my mother bothers me. I can also become very, very upset if someone goes into my room without my permission in the absence of me.

O.O My mother constantly jokes with me about my room as the "cave" when I retire there. I've gotten adept at stealthily sneaking past the family room and into my room. |

my room is a warehouse of everything - hiking stuff, musical instrumements, books and a lot of paperworks...for me it looks neat and the dirtiest part of my room is my table. i'm doing my best to get rid of my sister out of my room (she's afraid of the dark and can't stand sleeping alone in her room). i got rid of my bed because i find it more comfortable sleeping on the floor...
when my dad calls it a mess, i say, " dad it's zen" |

Somewhat. Whenever I try sleep at a place other than my own bed, it almost feels as if Im sleeping in a really boring book rather than a bed.

My room is there for utility, but I also see it as my territory. It annoys me greatly to have people barging into it uninvited, but I tend to be able to set up shop pretty quickly elsewhere if I really need to. That said, my room is pretty much designed to be self-sufficient -- it has entertainment, food and pretty much everything else I need to live. This my or may not be related to my distaste for the world outside my room and the people who exist in that alien space.

My room has a rather large collection of books (mostly fly-fishing/outdoor books, Rollins-ish fiction, and some reference stuff) and my fly-tying bench. As long as NO ONE touches my fly-tying bench (ever) or takes a book out of my "library" (w/o permission), I really don't mind visitors terribly.

I love my room. It seems to be where I spend the majority of my time while I'm at home. If I try to attempt getting work done anywhere but my room, it's usually futile (eg around the TV or 'studying' with friends etc) because I can't control the environment to the extent I'd like... too many distractions.
I have what seems to be the family computer in my room, which is a great benefit on one hand as I can have it to myself at times, but also gets me evicted from my room for hours at a time when others are using it for their personal habits (WoW :\). I also harbour my 5,000-song-strong (o.O) music collection on this computer, which I value immensely and could not have done without in recent years. I manage to keep my room in relative order, apart from naturally designated areas where I just piled all my shit onto. Works for me. |
