Is the love of the Zep an intj thing? I had never looked at it in that light. It does make sense though.

I try not to play favorites too much, I completely wore out Rush and U2 a couple decades ago. But the ones that come to mind are:

Coldplay-A rush of blood to the head
Third Eye Bind-Third eye blind
Jethro Tull-Aqualung
Jefferson Airplane-the worst of
Iron Butterfly- In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida
Andrew Lloyd Webber-JC Superstar
The Doors-LA Woman
The Fray-How to save a life
The Killers-Hot Fuss
Led Zeppelin II, III, IV
Metallica-Metallica
Nirvana-Nirvana
The Police-Ghost in the Machine
Rush-Grace under pressure
R.E.M.-In time
Santana-Abraxas
Scorpions-Love at First Sting
U2- Joshua Tree
The Who-Who's Next
3 Doors Down-Away from the sun
My current favorite is Black Mountain-In the Future

Sorry if that's more than ten. Don't make me narrow it down more than I already have!

I must admit I've never really liked Zep (apart from "Stairway To Heaven" of course). The again, I do score ISTJ sometimes...

In any order, really.

Bright Eyes - Lifted Or The Story Is In The Soil, Keep Your Ear To The Ground
For my sad, inner adolescent.

Bowie - The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars
Because obviously.

Everclear - Sparkle and Fade
Everclear's albums have been getting progressively worse since this. Their second, third, fourth, and maybe fifth albums are all highly listenable.

Garbage - Garbage
Just Garbage in general. Production values!

Jens Lekman - Night Falls Over Kortedala
Too bad he can never remember his own lyrics!

The Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs
This is a total cheat because that is a lot of music.

The New Pornographers - Electric Version
I kind of just picked one of their CDs. It's all pretty evenly good. Not the best, but great nonetheless.

Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?
For my sad, inner adult.

Rilo Kiley - More Adventurous
For general awesomeness.

Scissor Sisters - Scissor Sisters
Because everyone needs more gay disco/glam revival music. Everyone.

I've revised my criteria of what makes a great album, and of everything I've listened to, the follow two albums are genuinely perfect:

Karnivool - Themata

BT - The Binary Universe

To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

In particular, check out the effort, dedication and production value that went into the latter:

Unbelievable! There's also unique videos to accompany each track of the album. Definitely worth tracking down if you have the chance!

The miscellaneous info on the BT wiki page reminds me of an episode of Star Trek where math aliens are introduced to music for the first time and write music using converging mathematical formulae.

No Pixies or Frank Black? I didn't see them in a single post. I was certain they would be on a fair percentage of INTJ top bands of all time lists....maybe its a generational thing. I am not capable of making a top ten music list unless the category is more specific (ex. Top Ten albums to listen to on a road trip after your cat died (but you hated the cat)). Either way, the pixies would be on most of my top ten lists.

I going through a phase where I never like a song for more than a week. (I'm 15 by the way)

Currently I'm into Dolly Parton, Iz (What a Wonderful World, Somewhere over the Rainbow), the Corrs.

But at normal times, Guns N' Roses, Rammstein, Blur, some R.E.M, Foo Fighters, Santana, The Pixies (Me! Me! here's one), Metallica, Matchbox twenty, Three days grace are my favorite.

Muse, before I got sick of them.

Some bands you might accuse me of liking are Jimmy Eat World (anyone calling them sell outs?), Weezer. I even listen to 'heavily-scandalized' Simple Plan for a change.

I listen to everything-- bubblegum pop to oldies (real old ones) to death metal. I get sick of songs very very quickly.

Is this a trait of an INTJ? I think not?

This thread is a shock to me. I can't believe I, a wee ENFP can musically out-snob a roomful of INTJs.

I simply must chime in.

Here are ten of my current favorites.

Kurt Rosenwinkel - Deep Song
Elliott Smith - XO
Bill McHenry - Roses
Frank Carlberg- Land of Art. And everything else on the Fresh Sound label.
John Hollenbeck/Claudia Quintet - Semi-Formal
The Bad Plus - Give
Tin Hat Trio - Helium
Bill Evans Trio - Sunday at Village Vanguard
Wayne Shorter - Adam's Apple
John Zorn - Filmworks XIII Invitiation to a Suicide
Robin Nolan Trio - Travels
Radiohead - Amnesiac
Mr. Bungle - California

I will try to control my shock and horror that not everyone Loves this music as much as I do...!

Am I the only one who has a hard time picking definite favorites for things? I recently picked my favorite band but that was a very difficult process.

nope, I don't think I can either. it's too transient. Favorite is an AWFULLY strong word. over the years I figure it's what remains in my playlist thru thick and thin and almost nothing ever does.

That's how I figured out my favorite band. I'm already especially picky in music because of my background in it so the way I choose what to listen to is odd.
