Another introduction coming up, so hopefully you'll bear with me on this. I was recently steered back towards the MBTI by someone and decided to do a bit more reading up on it this time around. That's how I discovered this place and reading the posts here, it felt very much like I already knew everyone, as if they were friends I just hadn't met.

An INTJ to the bone here (...or as a friend once put it 'You think like a machine!') I am very definitely one who sees pretty much everything in the light of 'Does it work?' That's kind of fitting as I design systems for a living, so I get to tinker, create and innovate on a daily basis, but it can get a little too mechanical for me at times as most of the work is for the military.

Yes, yes, I know. I'm still not entirely sure how I came to end up doing such things seen as I do firmly believe the world would be much nicer if we all put down the guns and got on with solving the real issues, like making sure everyone has food and water and such things. I suppose the 'Does it work?' ethos fits very well in that industry, but it's too easy to become too detached from people, if that makes any sort of sense.

And of course, people are where I come un-glued - I really don't understand them! They are both fascinating and frustrating, in varying measures. At times I feel like I'm peering into (or out from) a fish tank at everybody else, because they seem so alien to me. It's like watching clouds of strange, ethereal creatures scamper about the place and being utterly lost as to why they do the things they do.

Can make me hard work to be around that and it's often difficult to put the brakes on my brain to allow time for others to say and do their own things. Plus, ya know... small talk and emotions tend to creep in then and that just looses me further!

But in that usual, fanatical way of trying to achieve perfection in everything, I'm working on the people bit. Not sure if I'll ever 'get' them, but I hope to at least tip the scales in favour of fascinating over frustrating. In the industry I'm in, it helps to remind yourself of the consequences of what you are doing and I'm proud to say I've reduced room fulls of people to total silence when I've thrown in a question or comment on those consequences. I like to make sure people remember them at all times.

As for the rest, well, I'm a 30-something year old guy living in England. I like movies, music, books and video games (yup... I have geek t-shirts!) and often wish I was a lot better at playing the guitar than I currently am. I also like to play around taking photos of stuffs and making little movies - I once had dreams of going to art college which vanished away, so this is my attempt to reconnect to those days. Plus, in the days of digital cameras, it's a fun way to warp the world to how I see it - it's the periscope sticking up out of my fish tank

It really does feel quite 'homely' browsing through these forums, so I shall just say it's very nice to meet you all!

Hey, I remember when I was new and lurking for the first time. A lot of what I read sounded like stuff I would say. At first, it was like I was reading myself to myself...

Anyway, welcome new person!

This really grabbed my attention. I have visited the National Art Museum in London, so I now how you Brits love art. What I didn't know was that British art colleges can vanish away!

This is most disquieting... I don't go to art college, but this makes me worry about the people who do.

I mean, like, if you were in there taking a class, and the college vanished away, what would happen to you? For the students on the ground floor it's probably OK (unless there's a basement), but what if you are on the third floor, or something like that? That is quite a fall!

But even worse than death by plummeting, is death by embarrassment, like if you are a nude model! One minute you are sitting there naked in this academic setting, and then.... >>> ZAMMO! <<< the college vanishes, and you are sitting there naked on Trafalgar Square! You see what I mean, right?

But if I saw a college vanish, my first thought would be to check for mirrors, because most such disappearing, I think, is just fake mirror tricks... unless there is gremlins involved, in which case all bets are off.

'You think like a machine!'

Input received --> input processed --> conclusion reached

Conclusion: Me too.

I'm not so good at witty things (although, I'll say, folks around here 'get' my humor much more than other folks)...so I'll just say 'Welcome'
