I was thinking about this. People immerse themselves in sensory deprivation tanks and the like to get in touch with what? Their intuitions I'd guess, since they are both perceiving modes. Since most of the population are sensors, this seems logical. However, what are we to do if we want to disengage from our intuition? I don't even know how that would be possible. Seems almost...unfair? I mean, we can engage in an activity that helps us engage in the now, but Ni (Introverted Intuition) is bubbling away all the while.

Oh, and have any of you tried sensory deprivation? I am curious if it just ramps up the Ni/Ne in Ns to some extreme level, since we have such command of it already.

Hmmm... perhaps you are closer to The Dark Side than you think...

On a more serious note, I don't know much about sensory depravation. So I'll have to get back to you when I have more information.

Well, I won't deny that I certainly have developed my introverted side. That is more of a side effect of events in my life during the past year and a half than natural preference. When I talk to true introverts (here and those I know personally), I can see the striking differences.

The question was framed as trying to disengage from N because it is the "opposite" of S. For me, I don't exactly see the difference between thinking and intuiting. Often, what comes out of my mouth is not something I was consciously pondering, it just comes out fully formed and coherent.

I try to isolate myself for meditation. I usually can't totally do it.
