I'm not sure why it happens, and they are really hard to predict when you are going to get them. They're exactly like yawns (as in you NEED to twitch), except you get whiplash instead. Also, I sometimes get electric like "chills" that either crawl from my back up to my brain, or vice versa, they kind of feel good, and sometimes if I'm lucky, I get thoughts and images of utter genius gush through my eye's. I remember my friend (who just happens to be an INTP) and I, twitched at the exact same time, so I'm sure it has something to do with you're surroundings. Can anyone relate to this?

I get those a lot as well. Although my mother has the physical ticks, where she twitches every so often.

It kind of sounds like a mild symptom of Tourette's.

Numerous people with the condition (myself included) have reported that they feel as though they have to keep making the motion until "it feels right again," almost like you're trying to bring your body back into balance. It's mostly an involuntary motion, but at the same time there's a certain amount of control to it, as tics can sometimes be supressed until one is in a more private place, away from prying eyes. Thus most Tourette's patients can feel the tics coming on and can make that effort to suppress the tics if they wish. However, supressing the action increases the urge to make it. From my own experience, this makes me feel like my skin in the affected area is crawling, a sort of tingly twitchy feeling that's unpleasant and I don't particularly like to feel it. This same feeling accompanies the twitches as my body tries to "rebalance" itself and find that feeling of rightness again.

in my family for at least three generations, there has been 'a turned out eye'. usually the right one. that eye used to start blinking on me without warning.

during the worst, most stressful part of my career, i would have my right index finger go to 'wiggling'...just the last joint. i think that was stress, or some of the medical stuff i went through.

if it bugs you, research it. it would not hurt to rule out whether it is a precursor (you know what those are? things you start to curse about after you find out 'i shoulda known about this.')

I get a twitch in my left eyelid. It's not noticeable to people as far as I'm aware of... but i can feel it dancing around.

Somewhat annoying, I think it becomes more likely as my stress level increases.

Yeah, I do that. It's fun to enhance it and freak people out.

I get a twitch in either my eyelid or my thigh muscle when I'm very stressed. The eyelid is not noticeable, but a little annoying.

I generally need to find a seat when my thigh muscle starts twitching repeatedly, because it is quite disconcerting and can cause me to lose balance. Not where it physically move my leg, but it is definitely visible.

It happens only when I'm very anxious, and isn't a serious problem, so I don't mind.

Unfortunately, I'm in a rather high-stress position in my life right now, with near-zero margin for error, and so the anxiety is just a fact of life.

My right eye twitches when I'm shocked or glaring at a person... (Haha) I don't know I'm doing it until some one looks at me strange or my sister just tells me.

Same with the eyelid twitch.
The right eye every time and it's one of those 'really doesn't matter but is so annoying' things.

I occasionally get twitches, too. Eyelid, arm, leg. It isn't often, but is usually associated with stress (in the case of eye twitches), or exertion (arm/leg). A few years ago, I read up on how muscle twitches are related to nutrition. Most are covered by typical multivitamins except potassium (bananas) and magnesium (almonds). Adding these to my diet seems to have helped a lot.
