I was looking at electives I could take the other day, and sadly, they didn't really match up with my eclectic interests. If you could design a class you'd like to take, what would it be?
I'd take... Effects of natural disasters on history um |

Cause and Effect. So many have yet to learn that if they do THIS, THAT will follow, statistically speaking. In driving, in gambling, in every aspect of life, statistics rule.
btw, good thread and excellent course subject, Zilal, specially if it includes diseases. |

That's a great idea for a class. I could see that being a very multi-disciplined class or course even, depending on how in depth you would want to get. History, physics, statistics, archeology, even informatics as you gather enough data through research, you could use that data to try to predict what affect future disasters might have on society. |

I love disasters! Well, not like that. But I love profound change, and it's very interesting to see what happens after a major upheaval.
I would like to take a class on the scientific method and ethics in science, but I don't think we have anything quiet like that here either. |

Modern Horror's Expansion Out of Gothic Literature
Mainly a course exploring a brief history of Gothic literature into the modern day smorgasboard that is horror (and one could argue, fantasy in there). I'd also try to include a bit of history on famous people (Vlad Tepes, Elizabeth Bathory, etc.) and famous events that could've helped construct stories (Black Plague amongs others). |
