Hello all,

Found out I'm a INTJ today and was reading some of the forums post and felt compelled to reply to some topics. Its really reassuring to know I'm not alone in alot of the thoughts and situations I find myself in.

A little bit about me: My earliest childhood memory was of parents arguing and going through the inevitable divorce. I was latchkey kid and had to deal with taking care of my younger sibling the majority of my childhood. Always watched TV and learned from it since it was my main source of simulated situations and relationships. Grew up a pretty decent life :P oh woe is me

I'm 24 now and I'm currently employed with a vendor for American Express managing a group of phone agents. I'm not currently going to school as I had no direction until recently (As of lately I've been in a deeper self discovery mood). I have the most interest in entering the biotech / genetic research. Ultimately I want to get out world closer to that of the movie Gattaca.

Anyway i have tons more to talk about but ill leave it at that. I dont know when to stop

All I want is the option in an obvious place, it matters not to me if anyone chooses it. Unrelated: if you saw the path I walked you would understand why my goals are so different.

Nice.

Glad you could make it, but I'm curious to know how to make bioxide. DNA and Oxygenated water?

(Oh, and nice avatar choice.)

Actually I came up with the name when I was looking for a gamertag for Xbox live some years ago. It was made mostly just cause it sounded catchy. It stuck so well all my RL friends call me Bio

And Doug was one of the shows I loved to watch when I was younger. It was the only mature cartoon show I think I was watching at the time(Aside from perverted sense of humor of Roko's Modern Life). Then came anime and manga...

Welcome, Bioxide!

Expound on your desire for a Gattica like world, if you don't mind?

If you're sticking around, you can check out the rules here, and a great thread about using all the neat forum features is here.

Please, enjoy!

Welcome Bioxide.

It strikes me there are a lot of people on this forum going through a phase of self discovery!

The desire was more along the lines of genetic cleansing (Getting rid of all the inherited genetic disorders). I also have a love for computers as that was what I originally planned to go to school for. I basically want to blend my love for both in the long run which I think will be inherent as computers calculate stuff a lot faster than we do

I actually could not stand Algebra in high school as I could not apply it to anything physical or visual. When I got into Geometry I realized I actually did not hate math in general. This love for shapes extended all the way into Drafting in school. I quickly mastered high school level drafting and got into 3d design. You can see some of my earlier work at http://www.emptyglass.deviantart.com

How does one go about doing that?

*pours fresh coffee and waits for riveting response*

I think it starts with increasing your fiber intake...

Well the theory is once we have mastered and can make major alterations to the human genome we would be able to identify the specific genes that carry the disorder and rectify it. Although we are a long ways from that now I was interested in helping advance anyway I can the study of this specific field. I think this field could vastly alter the way we live (hopefully in a good way).

I know its a very far fetched but I think in time it will be a reality just as personal computers at home have become a reality to someone back in the 50's. Just think of how many people you could save by figuring out what we are really made out of and why its made that way and what we can do to fix/improve upon it.

So, how do you rectify it? (all rectum and/or fiber jokes withheld )

Does your interest expand into Nutritional Genomics? If so, count me in! *salivates*

Well one way they can use a virus as a vehicle with the "good" DNA cultivated or modified from your original sample. Then they introduce manufactured virus into your system and the good genes would replace the specific defective genes in your cells and begin to replicate like a virus currently does.

I guess this example of a method and or approach is a more direct than altering or modifying your diet. My main direction is to get to the source of the ailment. Which in the end is all code.

I discovered myself once, but the indigenous people didn't like the forts that I built there and forced me out. I'm still bitter about that.

Welcome.
