As you can see, war games is highly popular among INTJs.

Personally I like strategy games such as Red Alert and Black And White.

What games do you like?

I've played war games with some lovers a couple of bosses. Depending upon what might be considered as a victory, I won with the lovers and lost with the bosses.

Haha, If I can annoy the hell out of the opponent, I feel victorious, whether I won or lost. Like building bases all over the place and harassing them to keep their attention fixed on one area... and next thing they know, my turrets have creeped up into their base, then they say "no, I can't have this", but while they're destroying those, I'm off doing something else sneaky.

What's also fun in RA, is when you can pull off an infantry rush at the very start of the game.. it's hard to do and usually means your opponent is not well matched to you, but it's funny to see a bunch of tiny guys run over and demolish their base before they can even start it. >:D

Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2, great fun. Too bad the AI only went soo far. on both TS and RA2, you can literally wait out the enemy. Eventually (usually after a few hours) the enemy stops producing units unless they are down 1 from their standard patrol. AI would not capture oil derricks as a primary resource, ai did not usually infantry with IFVs, the list goes on. Mods can fix some of them.

I only got to play RA2 online a few times. Its fun to poke and prod the other side. :D

I play any time of wargam/strategy game I can get my hands on. My biggest problem with board game type wargames is finding an adequate challenger.

RA does it too, in skirmish play at least. If you can hold off the waves, it will just build and build, and eventually build itself in and just give up. It does that in Warhammer 40k too, which is HILARIOUS to watch, you'll see the enemy base and it will be just jam packed to the gills with stuff, and will have infantry and tanks sitting there, doing nothing, or trying to move back and forth as if wanting to get out of the base but not sure how to.

Sometimes I like to keep the AI on 'life support', just letting it keep enough stuff to try and fight back, but smack down whatever it produces... eventually it seems to only make a token effort after a while, it almost seems like it gets depressed, though that's just a side effect of myself owning nearly all the resources on the map.

Visiting a friend, he set me up in one room with him in another with linked computers to play Starcraft or some such. I said gimme time to learn what everything does, but before I'd even absorbed the rules he attacked - course I got trashed. The End.

We played Starcraft a few nights ago, took me back to Junior High.

The first game was 3v3.. then it was a 4v2 then they all ganged up on me..

I admit, I got cocky at the 5v1, but I took three of them down before they got me :D

I like Protoss and they thought they got my strategy each time. The second game they were ready to shoot down my carrier fleet with scourges and valkyries but oh crap.. those can't attack the massive amounts of zeolots that were pillaging their bases

I love Command & Conquer games, such as Red Alert, Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun, unfortunately the AI in TS is a bit unchallenging, and yeah, the AI in RA2 will eventually stop making units, but I think that this is fixed in the Yuri's Revenge expansion, the AI is more intelligent and will use superweapons in other places that are not the war factory.

Empire Earth and StarCraft are awesome games too.

Absolutely dig RTSs when they're done right. World in Conflict is this year's best RTS, bar none.

They are really fun games, I never did care much for the 'harvesting' in RA though. It does make it interesting, and fun, but it's a pain in the ass to watch out for your harvesters, which have inherently retarded AI... I don't know whether to protect them and keep them from going straight to the enemy base, or kill them myself for being stupid. The inverse is quite fun however, when you can 'own' the opponent by trashing their harvesters, and making them really frustrated and panicked.

Though it gets interesting when you have some really fierce attrition going on from both sides, you keep slaughtering eachother so much that even an extra pea-shooting infantryman in your attack formation can tip the scales at times... brutal slaughter can be so much fun, it's frightening.

Unfortunately, it seems that quite a few of the strategy games all fall within the war games spectrum.

I typically play Warcraft 1-3 and Star craft.

If I could find an appealing multi-player Non war real time strategy game, I'd definitely give it a shot.

I don't play 'war games' per se. Rather, I play very strategic games of Halo 2/3 (I love CtF, Territories and other objective game types) and Rainbow Six: Vegas. I loved AoE 2, but it got old for me because I didn't ever want to continue a game. Part of that had to do with our crappy eMachine I had to use. Blech. Thankfully, I'm probably going to order an 8800GT(S) in the next few months. That'll make me happy for a long time.

What I find interesting is, games like these could be very strategic and tactical, but they generally aren't because hardly anyone wants to really work as a team... a lot of people want to stand out, and do their own thing, and will go so far as to say "Hey! That was MY kill!"

And I think: "Well gee, excuse me for helping and covering your ass. Next time I'll just wait and see if he kills you first, and THEN take the kill, after you softened him up for me."

Unreal Tournament, Sniper Elite, Wolfenstein, Medal of Honor Allied Assault. I like the gameplay, but playing the quick-action ones sometimes makes me sick (literally).

The Total War series is THE definition of a strategy game, bar none.

SupCom/FA is the strategy game for me. Less micro, more global perspectives. I also throughly enjoy tactical shooters like Stalker, Team Based Halo, GRAW (if it didn't suck)... You get the idea.

Yeah. I know. My best friend and I play a lot of Halo. He used to get all pissed at me for taking all his kills. Eventually we learned enough about each other so that we knew when the other guy needed help and didn't steal kills.

Most of the pricks are just idiots. I think the same as you most often. "So I should let you die first? That sounds smart..."

Yup, i totally understand that, is just that in a team scenario, you help the team, at all times, whether it's "needed" or not.

Though I've done the same as you, I can tell with people I play with and against often, when they 'need help' and when they don't. but two people shooting at one guy takes out that guy faster, and is better for the team, especially in games where who wins the round is what counts, and points are only for your fragrate, which is not a good indicator of how often you win.

I have a problem with games.
I install a game, and in 5 minutes i can see what this game is about, how the game will end, what are the main values at end-game, what new stuff will I see while i play, what are the mechanics of this game, what are the key points to succeed, what were map designers thinking and how will further maps look like, where to find goals, I can keep listing, but I find it boring.
So my problem with games is: I get bored of it in first level. Not becouse the game is bad in any way, but simply becouse I KNOW WHAT IS WAITING FOR ME.
Sometimes I wish I could switch off my "N" witch can see patterns well enough to ruin gaming experience and turn on "S" witch I dont have at all.
