Why so surprised? Admitedly not djing or spending as much time in clubs/seeking out new tunes has taken me away from the bleeding edge of the scene, but my aim is to spread good music to those who may not of heard - I don't recall saying they're the newest.

The past week or so I've been listening to Solarstone's Electronic Architecture mix cd, the first cd is good and the second cd is immense, it reminds me of Tiesto's in search of sunrise series, but with more energy - track it down!

I've also been listening to Gatecrasher digital. It was out when I first started going to Gatecrasher (2001) but I had my copy stolen and I've just got another one off Amazon - memories

Here are some of the tracks from CD1:
01)POB and Art Of Trance - Turkish bizarre

02)Maurice and Noble - faith delivers (Union main room mix) - I wish I could share a link.
03)Joshua Ryan - all (skip to 4 minutes)

04)Max Graham - sepia, I've missed this tune - bass in the break is a beast!-

06)Leama - melodica

11)Coast 2 coast - be with me -
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

13) Praetorian - released - MASSIVE tune, but can't find a link.

I'd highly recommend buying the cd - cd 2 is dark and techy to start and hard as nails by the end. Cd 3 is a very nice collection of chilled mixes of trance classics.

Thanks for the recommendations and for all the tracks you posted. A lot of these tracks bring back memories regardless if they're not new or the latest. I'll check out that Solarstone compilation CD. I remember a few classics from him.

In Search of Sunrise 5: Los Angeles was probably my favourite ISOS CD that Tiesto released. Almost everything released from 2001 to 2006 were great. In my opinion and from what I personally remember, 2006 was one of the greatest years for Trance. Quality releases by great artists were played on ASOT almost every week, as well as Above & Beyond playing great tunes on TATW. I'll never forget that year.

No worries. He's actually got an artist album out called rain stars eternal - not had chance to listen to it yet, though.

Panama is my fav' ISOS one - classic cd.

I'm in the latter stages of donwloading episodes 1 - 92 of Aly and Fila's future sound of Egypt radio show, should keep me busy for a while!

Platipus is a label specialising in progressive trance, it's owned by Simon Berry, AKA Art Of Trance (see link below.)

Why do you ask?

Oh, I heard "they" were amazing, but could never find listings etc, then semi-heard they were a label that went under. Are they still producing?

If I wanted to download their stuff, how'd I go about finding it? Who would the artists be?

Various artists are signed to it, a lot of the music is good, some of the stuff isn't for me, though (try to imagine the sort of music hippies would enjoy dancing too whilst drinking mushroom brew.)
Some of my favourites are in the thread already, but if you want to explore here's the website-

No prob's. I scaned through the new ones on the youtube link, Art Of Trance, Triclops is o.k., wasn't any others better than listenable IMO.

Albion (Ferry Corsten alias), Air is on platipus - I can't find my favourite -much deeper - mix (called air 2000), but here's Ferry Corsten's open air mix of air 2000 -

They also produce as Motorcycle... or did, they don't collaborate anymore. If you want to check out their solo projects, their names are Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden.

Ok, Phoenix, I think you are the person to help me here. I'm trying to decide on a good DJ Shah album to get. I am so far leaning towards Songbook. I was shuffling through his stuff on itunes the other day. Suggestions of something different, older, not there?

To narrow it a bit, I'm not a fan of chillout mixes so much, so those can all be eliminated.

Also, some low to no vocals for trance that is not him would be welcome. I'm trying to put together some stuff to listen to while I am under self-hypnosis for childbirth.

I'm no expert on Shah - I've heard 3 or 4 tunes that I like, and others I'm not so keen on.

As far as trance sans vocals goes, it really depends on the BPM you want it to have (I'm guessing not too fast?)

I'll try and suggest some based on your reactions to other tunes:

Chilled, but emotive; has an uplifting crescendo -

All were good, but I especially liked the first one. I'll go through and listen to some more and pick out what I like to get more similar stuff. I'm going for something that will induce a more introspective state, as that's where I'll mentally be.

The first one is on the chilled disk of Gatecrasher experience, it has 9 other tunes with a similar vibe. If you can't find it, some of my fav's from it are Human Movement, healing (reprise mix), Rank1 airwave (sunset mix), Arcadia, blind visions, Miro, by your side (miro's rolled mix.) Gatecrasher digital has a similar cd, which includes: Saints and Sinners, peace (Michael Woods mix - the breakfast mix is sublime and is linked on this thread already), Charlie May, vorab, Michael woods remix of Humate, love stimulation -

Search for Maurice and Noble, faith delivers. Solarstone's electronic architecture double mix cd is mainly the kind of chilled/spacey prog' trance that I've added tonight.

It's funny you mentioned Hydra, affinity, as I listened to it today when I had an urge to listen to the Menno De Jong mix (which wasn't on youtube), track it down.
