Welcome, Klamachpin

Early adulthood is a time for figuring out who you are and who you want to be, then trying to reconcile the two, and social life is seldom easy for INTJs.

We'll be happy to listen.

Welcome, Klamachpin! Since you're young, I will forgive the punctuation of your opening post.

Enjoy the forum!

I tried to ignore it, I really did, but I can't.

"I" is always capitalized. Apostrophes are your friends. Commas are not a replacement for periods. "Because" is not much harder to type out than b/c. The start of sentences are capitalized.

Other than that, welcome again. Sorry to hear about your friendship troubles.

Welcome... Don't pay attention to everyone else. I'm the only one that really matters on here... Or anywhere else for that matter.

Now, now, you're getting me confused with, Rudy. I'm just as guilty of poor grammar as the next guy. I'm much more of a Spelling Nazi.

This is very true. Can you, for example, spot the incorrect comma in the quoted text?

The first sentence should read:

"Now, now, you're getting me confused with Rudy."

The comma after the second "now" is debatable; it could arguably be a period or semicolon as well. The one before my name is definitely incorrect.

Interesting...

Is this correct?

"Are you sure about that, Rudy?"

"Rudy, are you sure about that?"

But not this:

"Rudy, is sure about that."

Just thought I'd ask.

Yes, the first two are correct, the third is not. In the first two, "Rudy" is a non-essential element. You could remove it from the sentence and the sentence would still make sense. "Are you sure about that?" works fine on its own. In the third sentence Rudy is an essential element. "Is sure about that" is not a valid sentence, or even a valid clause, so "Rudy" is not separated by a comma.

Self awareness is important.

Thereith end our lesson for today. (Yes, I do know that thereith is not a word, I used it for effect.)

Welcome to the madness Klamachpin. I'm with rwyatt, capitalization is essential.

Oh, and welcome Klamachpin.

I could have used one of those for self-awareness; however, it was optional.

(Yes, I just wanted to impress you all by using a semicolon.)

I'm too lazy to give a thorough response, so I refer you to:

*breathless dog arrives *

Somebody told me that Rudy was in a coma. I figured maybe... you know... he wouldn't be needing... "everything".... *eyes shift rapidly back and forth*

But now I see it "comma", not coma. Darn the luck.
