Well, as a current high school junior...
- At least initially, I seem much more like an ENTP to most people, although that could have something to do with my weak I. - I'm actually (at least relatively) dedicated to (most of) my schoolwork, but that's mostly because I'm trying to make sure I keep getting strings of A's on my report cards so I can get some good scholarships. - I have quite a few good friends; some would describe them as my "entourage." They're mostly Ns (three INFJ's, ENTJ, two INTP's, two ENFJ's, ENTP, ENFP, INTP, and INFP), with the exception of an ESFJ and an ISTJ. I know quite a few xSTJ's and xSTP's, and while I admire their intelligence, they constant blabbering about sports or movies bores me to no end. One of them makes a great group partner in Physics, but he simply doesn't grasp why I wouldn't want to discuss sports with him. - I'm always on time for class. - I take honors classes and excel in them (I was at the top of the grading curve in honors English class that's a precursor to AP Lit/Comp, and I got 97% in College Algebra and Physics last semester). I do this with very little effort on my part besides doing the homework. - While I wish that I wasn't well-known in my school (with about four hundred students), I am. A lot of that has to do with my photography; not to brag, but I'm the best in the school right now, and I'm the primary yearbook photographer. Everyone sees me walking around with my Nikon FM2 on my shoulder half of the time. Oh, and I tend to stick out in some classes because I'll know the answer to a teacher's question when nobody else does. - During my freshman year, I wore Hawaiian shirts to school almost every day except for dress-down days, when we could wear T-shirts (it's a private Catholic school). The only day when I can remember wearing a polo was on Hawaiian Day during Spirit Week. - No fashion sense whatsoever. I usually wear Carhartts or cargos, coupled with a polo or long-sleeve button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and sometimes a tie (which doesn't match half the time). And a tweed flat cap. |

Some of these other INTJ's I would hope to avoid when I was at high school. But I just avoided everyone.
-Didn't care much for other people, saw them as "sacks of flesh" who will only be manipulated by their bosses and the media. -Always late to school, if I couldn't skip. -Never drank or smoked, or cared about relationships. -Pretty much stayed inside. I lived in a dangerous neighborhood as a kid, so I didn't much enjoy leaving the house. |

Interesting variations in this thread. I'm not sure how much I look like an INTJ in public, but I'll try to describe my behavior:
I walk fast, regardless of whether I'm in a hurry. I only walk slowly when I'm outdoors and enjoying the scenery, or looking at exhibits in a museum. I dislike being late. I like to arrive between one and five minutes early. On that note, I'm pretty anal about time. I regularly reset my watch to match with the Naval Observatory's atomic clock, and check the clocks at various places I frequent to see how fast or slow they are. Overall I consider myself a quiet person, but that varies greatly. In most cases, I am a silent observer, but if the topic turns to something that I care about, I usually don't hesitate to speak my mind (only refraining from doing so if the person with whom I disagree has authority over me and is therefore able and likely to cause me trouble for my opinions). I am also one of the least inhibited when on the stage. I very rarely look or sound angry, even when I am saying things to express my indignation about something. This has its advantages and disadvantages. I speak clearly and concisely (often shortly), but I also mutter a lot. I do that when I don't care to have the other person hear it. If you hear me mutter something, it was probably an incomplete thought or a sarcastic comment. I almost always wear jeans, and rarely shorts, regardless of the weather. For some reason, I seem to be less affected by high or low temperatures than most others around me. |

I'm 22, so I'm slightly ripe, but I'll give it a go:
-Made top grades in class, although I could have made the bottome 10% and would have been just as satisfied. -Tend to be concentrated in science electives (AP Physics,Chemistry,Biology), computer science, philosophy. -Not a big fan of sports.\ -Appears studious/serious but finds contempt in status quo. -Likes esoteric things. -Dislikes or at least is skeptical of organized religion. -Doesn't appear to have many friends, but doesn't appear "lonely" either. Not a very original list, but accurately describes my teenage years. |

I see several common themes here, which are unsurprisingly recognized as very INTJ.
1. Confronting authority. I did this in high school as well. I went to a religious school, where "loving God" was cool, but getting drunk on the weekends and !@#$ing was commonplace, a highly hypocritical environment. I verbally attacked the principal for holding me and my friends to a double standard, as she was always singling us out and getting us in trouble for being the weird jokesters. I found out years later that she was having an affair with the vice-principal. How right my intuition really was. 2. Doing extremely well in classes without a lot of effort. I was way more focused on running in high school, but still managed to do very well in school. I cheated a lot on homework (then again, who didn't in high-school) but never on tests. I would not trust anyones answer over my own. I graduated third in my class, not first, mainly because my english teacher gave me a B for joking around too much in her class. This theme continued on into college for a few years, where I pulled mediocre grades in the introductory classes. I realized that if I wanted to go to medical school, I would have to pull the grades up. My last two years I had a 4.0 GPA taking a lot of hard classes like quantum chemistry and thermodynamics, physics, cosmology, cell phys etc. 3. Once the INTJ finds out what he or she wants, he or she lays siege to whatever barriers are in her/his way. I am now in medical school, and score on exams at or near the top every time. I still manage to sleep 8-9 hours a night, exercise a lot, and watch movies. Some of my classmates have to study 16 hours a day just to stay up on classes. I write all this to encourage people who feel frustrated in high school. Just remember, you will NOT fit in well there because of your abilities. I would suggest trying to do well in school, or at least find some intellectual activity that allows you to culture your talents. Music, programming, debate team, whatever. Work hard to reach the highest level, as this will help you build confidence for the future. I just want to say that having a powerful mind can be the greatest gift or can become a curse depending on how you let your life unfold. |

I space out a lot, I guess.
I spend most of Calculus / Physics writing calculator programs. I spend half of my passing time after Physics talking to my (INTJ) teacher about complex scenarios that go way past what we're already learning. I MBTI type everyone. I think most of my teachers like me, I don't try to piss anyone off. I'm much more tactful than my also INTJ friend, he can be very blunt and passionate in his arguments. |

I'll keep it simple since most of what has been said in this thread already accurately describes me.
-Punctual, never late -Indifferent to the entire social thing -Few close friends, mainly other "INTJs" -Never had a girlfriend (they didn't understand me) -Rebel in many ways -Aced tests when others failed them -Answered questions when I felt like answering them -Some people thought I was a genius, most who did not understand me thought I was a moron. I loved surprising people when I actually opened up with all my knowledge. Most of them were clueless. Most important? I have "reinvented" myself at university.... I'm still punctual, but now I am much more open and "confident" of disseminating my knowledge in the form of debate / discussion. I am career / academically focused, and have plans. I mainly wear black, and try to look "collected." In HS, I was indifferent. Now, I am focused. I am also trying to put myself in situations that foster social development, since being quiet is usually not going to get you far in this world.... You can be the smartest person in the world, but if you don't share this knowledge with others, what good is it? |

I'm an INTJ male teenager so I have to describe myself
- Punctual, always early and always the last person to leave the room. - I totally hate mega-b***h** and stoopid bullies I always avoid them wherever possible. - In school, I am always in the computer surfing the internet or playing some games, or if not I am studying in the library. - I don't wear loud clothes. I wear more comfortable clothes even if it's out of fashion - I hate books (really, I hate reading books unless they are required). I prefer japanese mangas and some comics (I don't like Marvel Comics that much though). - I tutor people who don't listen in class, especially math and grammar, when they need me (they desperately need me when quiz and exams are ahead). - When people piss me off, intentionally or jokingly, I look at them in the eyes and say some totally mean words until they shut up. - When I am annoyed, I would scold the person making unnecessary noises. - I often question authority (yes, authorities can be abusive when they want to). - I am grouchy when I am not in the mood (the "leave-me-alone-and-don't-talk-to-me-so-mind-your-own-business" sign will just appear above my head for everybody to see). - I often scold my groupmates, and even our leader, when they aren't efficient in doing group projects. |

As I fit into the "INTJ", "teenage"(18), and "male" categories why not describe me...
- Always on time, the attention that being late brings is not something I like. - I always slack off in classes, the only way I made it through HS was via independent study my senior year. - My wardrobe consists of jeans and a grey, blue, or black t-shirt. The weather doesnt matter. - Pathologic lying. - I used my teachers and abused their compassion to pass. - My fellow students knew when to steer clear and I was suspended for threatening another student. - I corrected teachers on the most minor of their errors, but I let the immense ones fly. - Always the smartest in the class. - I get hung up on certain subjects or skills and dont move on till I have learned everything/can pass myself off as an expert. - One or two friends, mostly people that I keep around in case I need something. - A couple flings, but generally I am clueless with girls(and still a virgin). - I avoid social activities at all costs. Basically... like everyone has said, look for the person that corrects the teacher, hacks computers, has exceedingly obscure skills, and tries not to be noticed...at all. But realize going into it that the guy will probably have no idea what is going on with girls(and thus will have to be told flat out you want to be friends/more). |

Right now I'm age twenty so I'm not to far off from highschool.
Highschool days -Always on time -Follow Rules and Learn the Rules -One of the Top ten students in academics (GPA) -Most Valuable Player in Cross-country, great at mid-distance running (track), Varsity Tennis Player (I don't really like talking about profesional teams only olympic sports) -Joined many clubs (honor societies, science club events, community service events, conferences, math events, mock trials, etc.) -Attended school rallies even though i can skip them but do not attend dances. -sometimes I attend sporting events such as football and basketball -Never into parties and never attended unless it is a good friends birthday party (PG-13 with adult supervision) -Only respect authority figures that do the right thing. -Decent in drawing but still an amatuer -Usually keep a nice type of attitude but keep a poker's face -Above average fighting and shooting gamer (video games). In highschool not to many people can put together that I'm good at sports and academics. They either think I am very intelligant or a decent runner but never together. Since not to many people know my talents I can move like the shadows. It is better this way because you do not get to much attention and can move easier. |

When I was in high school:
1. I skipped most of my classes after sophomore year. I used to write my own notes to get out of classes but I still got straight A's. After I graduated, my high school made a new regulation that one couldn't miss more than 3 weeks of classes, otherwise the student would have to repeat the year. 2. I hardly ever studied but always did well on tests. The day before I had to an important final, I was tripping out on acid with my friends at a rave. I also wrote my final senior report in the very last week that we had half a year to get done. I got one of the top scores. 3. I was very stylish and wore a lot of tight fitting, midriff baring clothes and short shorts. I was in the drama club, mock trial, the tennis and swim teams. 4. Math and economics were my best subjects, and my worst subject was English lit. However, although I was terrible at analysing literature, especially books I found hideously boring, I was incredibly good at writing essays. In retrospect, I think I could've done with two years of high school. 4 years of utter boredom were more than plenty. |

- All Honors/AP classes, with a perfect GPA
- Combat boots, jeans, militaristic hair, and a shirt with absolutely no logos or emblems - Extreme hatred for folks my age - Expansive vocabulary, to the point of being near incomprehensible to the average dolt - Few friends, all at least 3 years my senior - Weary demeanor - Several hundred book library - No effort expended to form relationships, especially romantic ones, as I saw my peers to be too mentally undeveloped to keep up with me or even have a mature conversation. This was true. |

When I was in high school:
-Absolutely normal looking -Very quiet when not with friends -Averagely extroverted if with friends -Top marks in class -Tendency to do or say weird things -Really nerdy if you get to know me -I also played almost every sport though... so that would probably throw off anyone who was looking for an INTJ -Rarely initiated social contact with someone I didn't know, especially romantically -Always hated English class, but was far more literate than most people. I read more than anyone I ever met in high school. -Never studied, but still aced tests. Not to say that I didn't care about school - I did, a lot, but I just did the minimum amount of work needed to get into my choice of university. -Never skipped class. If I was late it was probably because I went somewhere with friends over lunch. |

I'm currently a college sophomore, so hopefully I haven't forgotten too much of what I was like in high school.
For one, I took pretty much as many honors and AP classes as I could and got straight A's all the way through high school. I graduated number 1 in my class, but I didn't really receive much recognition from the school administrators until I was a senior. That was probably because I didn't get involved in any extracurricular activities until my junior year. Overall, my main focus in high school was my grades. I didn't really care about forming any close relationships with people. That could also be because every good friend I had seemed to move far away. I followed the rules almost all the time. However, that was more due to the fact that I saw no logic in getting in trouble and having to stay in detention after school. It's also a good idea to be the good kid because then nobody questions you when, for example, you walk around with no pass in the halls (only got stopped one time during my four years). I was never late to class if I could help it, but I will admit that chemistry labs often contributed to tardiness. Moreover, I only skipped half of one class my entire high school career (and that was because my AP test finished halfway through the class, so I just decided to stay at lunch longer). There is a lot more I could say, but I feel like I'm rambling on now. |

When I was in school...
- I wore the same black fleece jacket day after day after day - I did not make friends and avoided unknown people - Still got perfect grades and a perfect GPA in Honors - Tended to look down on everyone else and got angry when they didn't take their futures seriously - Had no patience for small talk - I only liked the teachers who didn't pull any bullshit on me - I never joined any cliques or groups |

I am way too old to recall highschool with any clarity aside form a few memorable events. I was quiet and reserved, but polite. I struggled to gain a sense of self worth. Aside from that, it is kinda blurry. The benefit of age is you get to forget how messed up you were and instead get to be nostalgic

High school (early-late 1990's):
-Dressed in a very non-conformist, highly noticeable fashion (I kinda looked like the son of Humphrey Bogart had he impregnated a Lay-Z-Boy) -Was absent half the time, opting instead to hitchhike around the continent whenever money permitted -Hung out in a donut shop with friends most nights I was in town -Always told by teachers to "put that book away and start learning" -Often accused of plagiarism by teachers who did not have the intellectual wherewithal to make such accusations -Still managed near-perfect grades in any subjects of interest, despite being a conspicuous absentee -Earned Cs and Ds in subjects of zero interest -Constantly smoked cigarettes and pot -Drunk much of the time -Pulled lots of crazy stunts (not for the attention it garnered, but rather to put smiles on people's faces) -Constantly heard that I was "wasting my talent" -Almost always reading or writing -Almost everyone was a friendly acquaintance to me, but I had little use for all but a few -Managed a used book store during my senior year. My boss and I were cut from the same cloth, so my schedule was flexible whenever the road beckoned me |

I'm 19 now, in my second semester of College.
Back in High School, I put in the least amount of effort to get the lowest B I could. Usually around 79.51 percent and up a bit. I made jokes in class, and was pretty extraverted when with friends, and usually I knew at least one person pretty well in my class. Off periods though, or during lunch when everyone was away I'd hang out in the library just drawing(also drew a bunch in class. That's the number one way I met new people outside of my clique, when I asked if they had a red(or any other color) pen). I'd walk around outside or though the halls. Our school was on a lake and is probably in one of the most beautiful locations for a highschool to be, so I'd listen to music walking around for an hour or so, or go for a drive. |

I don't think I conform to many here since I'm borderline I/E...
Highschool for me was... - Halo LAN's with friends. Up to 16 sweaty teenagers packed into a basement. - Starting to date. I knew I didn't have the social skills to meet girls that easily, so I befriended people that did, and became comfortable around them and asking them out over time. - Arguing with parents. Boy did I think I was right all the time. I think I only won a couple arguments with my INTP father out of the thousand we had. - Advanced classes in school. I took IB. - Playing in a rock band, and learning through attrition I hated performing. - Skipping class when I could get away with it. A lot of teachers liked me and gave me the "don't get caught" thing when they saw me in the halls. |

-Very manipulative. Given long enough I could have the other kids hating me, or all sitting around me.
-Very Sarcastic Witty style humor. Often found nerd related jokes much funnier than basically anyone else. :D -Easily willing to debate a topic with basically anyone -played music all the time -When praised/scolded I tended to show nearly no emotion at all other than to give a basic "thank you" or "okay" -Extremely dependent upon logical thought. If I couldn't comprehend any use for something I was overly quick to shun it... but I believe this is a common INTJ trait. This certainly didn't help me with my history grades. XD |

Currently a high school senior. Right now I tend more towards INxP, but I was very INTJ in my freshman/sophmore years, so I'll describe me then.
- On time for class, but never early - Tried to sit as far away from the teacher as I could, so I could do what I felt was important - Never paid attention in class, but generally got high A's without even trying - Extremely quirky fashion sense; even with a school uniform I managed to stand out a bit - Cracked sarcastic, witty jokes during class/assemblies - Only classes that managed to hold my interest were literature, the sciences, and languages - I managed to piss off plenty of people, made quite a lot of enemies; about half the people I knew hated my guts, while the other half essentially adored me - Rarely went to dances/parties - Talked about philosophical and esoteric stuff with the few N friends I could find - Had a couple girlfriends, but they rarely lasted more than 4 months - Anal retentive about some things, mostly grammar - Absolutely hated giving in to authority. Quietly resisted it, and almost never got caught - I could, as an acquaintance once described it, "verbally beat anyone's ass up and down the street", and have everyone else enjoy the show |

-I get all A's (save one B+ in sophomore English) taking the toughest curriculum possible.
-I don't try a whole lot. I really rely on memory to get me through everything. -I'm never engaged in English (it's boring) or math (I already know it); I make up and solve my own problems instead. -I'm typically pretty reserved unless I know what I'm talking about. -I'm the president/captain of every academic club/team because quite frankly no one else is suited for the job. I'm on student council for similar reasons. -I dress pretty low-key and comfortably: lots of solids, lots of darks, some graphics, no text on anything unless it's something I got from an event. -I'm always tired because I spend the time I should spend sleeping online doing more interesting things -I run cross country because I like the people on the team and I'm pretty decent; I swim because I'm good at it. -I'm only close with a few people, and those people are really starting to irritate me. I kinda shifted social circles but I'm still on the outside because I don't have the extreme extroversion of most of the others in the group. -I've never dated. Honestly I have more time-sensitive things to do than get emotionally involved with and have to commit time to someone right now. -I play by the rules. I don't mind parties unless people are doing stupid/illegal stuff. -I'm really laid back unless I'm in competition mode, in which case I become extremely driven. -My sense of humor is pretty lacking. -I'm more well-respected than well-liked. Note: my I isn't all that strong. |
