To keep you from falling down emotionally, journal 3 good things each day from your life. I suppose it gives more perspective on your life, focusing on the good things will make you more positive.

Ok people, you must do it with me though, as I have a tendency of not completing things. Shall we give us 1 week to do this and see how we feel at the end?, if it makes us more positive, do it indefinitely. Reading the 3 good things from others will also cheer us up.

Jan 23rd

1. I went to a funeral for the first time and it was not as bad as thought. Most things are not as bad as you think.

2. I managed another day in my abstinence challenge (I'm going to use this every day on my list, providing I stick to it)

3. The sun is shining after a night of rain rain rain. It makes me feel good.

Your turn

It was a pretty shitty Day so 3 bad things come to mind first but...Night:

1. I got shouted dinner.
2. I saw 2 close friends.
3. I had a huge cup of icecream on the beach and the stars in the sky were beautiful

1. I didn't sleep in. I was actually perky this morning.
2. I made my daughter's teacher laugh hysterically this morning. The why is unclear, but it gave me a warm fuzzy.
3. Both my kids told me how much they loved me before they went off to school. It is good to be loved...

1) The weather's gray, cloudy, and humid. Makes me feel ...secure.

2) Extended slackery coffee break this AM with a coworker/friend, which involved sitting down for a little, instead of walking right back to the building.

3) Lunch break phone call! :D

Bonus #4) Thank you jeebus, it's Friday! I don't have to come back here tomorrow. (Here being work, not the forum.)

I also want to add, I think this is a really good/useful exercise for me. I'm someone who, without even thinking about it, is geared to find errors and work out ways to improve. A natural side effect of that trait is that I tend to constantly home in and focus on the flaws in life.

Stopping to manually consider the fact that I'm not constantly being thwarted and missing my marks helps me feel more balanced.

(1) i saw malevolent do this very cool thing in creating a new thread for these threes. and said "thank you malevolent."
(2) I stay home and play
(3) I sent the irs my appeal. I am annoyed that they lost my money and are very mean about pretending they didn't, but I am abiding by their awful rules because it is in my best interest to make this go away. la.

(1) I finally did something that I've been putting off for a few weeks... it didn't have the best result, but it feels good to get it done.
(2) I'm learning to be more assertive, rather than trying to be nice to people all the time. It's... exhilarating, somehow.
(3) As shallow as this sounds, I got my hair cut, and I really like how it looks. It'll also be way easier to take care of.

1. After studying math for a while, I'm starting to see math in everyday life and think of problems on my own; always a good sign that something's taking hold.
2. Lifting weights has started to show results, something I saw in the mirror after lifting today - glad that I haven't aged out of the body I used to have.
3. I can't think of anything else obvious, so I'll say I'm grateful for simply existing.

Great thread Malevolentworld. After the Motivation for Life thread, it's good to see you doing this. Rara avis makes a great point too about this being a positive exercise. When things are going bad, it's way to easy to just pile on like everyone else, and it takes some guts to see things your own way.

For me:

1) As with every day, I was happy to get up and peek in to see my four-year-old daughter sleeping. Kids are so cute when their out cold!

2) It's Wednesday today; only two more days to go at work. Really. I work Wednesday-Sunday, so Friday is actually my Wednesday and Sunday is my Friday. For me, that means it's nice to get to Saturday, which is actually Monday. Try to keep up folks.

3) It was a glorious sunny day today.

1. I beat rara avis to implementing this thread
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

2. I read all your good things ...sometimes I forget you are people, but you are lovely people
3. Day 16 of my challenge and I think I'm stabilising
3 a) nice sunny day again
3 b) saw my nephew play football, it was awesome. (as in soccer)

Rara Avis, it was an honour to beat you to this, but I also want to add that I am also like you in wanting to improve things but mainly seeing the negative. At work it is a good thing though ...so long as you improve the business.
