Sure. Click on Quick Links in the forum toolbar. The second option is Mark Forums Read.

You need the web address (also called the URL) of the picture. If the picture is on your computer then you need to upload it to an image hosting site (photobucket or imageshack are the free ones most people use), but if it is from a website then it already has an address. Those images are what this tip is for.

To get the address of the image you right click on the picture on the web page you find it on, then select Properties from the menu (last option). That will give you a pop up with the URL (Location) of the picture (it's the first line in the box). Try it, right click on the caterpillar picture below.

To use the image on the forum copy and paste that address adding IMG tags in square brackets like this [IMG]http://cdn.okcimg.com/php/load_okc_image.php/images/0x0/0x0/0/12035715470107186627.jpeg___1_500_1_500_cb94de6a_. png[/IMG] (note the / in the last tag) and you will get:

To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Instead of manually typing [IMG][/IMG] around the address you can use the shortcut (square with the green circle icon in the toolbar on the reply box if you aren't using the Basic editor).

This has been covered in this thread already, but I wanted to summarize the options for these in one place.

Both Unread Posts (under your name top right) and Today's Posts (first option on the Quick Links drop down menu) will give you a list of active threads, sorted chronologically by time of last post. Most people on the forum use these to browse the current threads. You can reset the Unread Posts to zero (which essentially resets the list) at any time by clicking Mark Forums Read in the Quick Links drop down menu.

If you don't want to see the Politics threads, or Games threads, or Online Tests threads, etc. in the lists you can customize the lists and LionsPride provided instructions for this earlier in the thread:

In the user CP, under Edit Options, there's a feature to exclude forums from view. Forums that are selected for exclusion will no longer show up in the "Unread Posts" search or the "Today's Posts" search, but it won't prevent you from manually navigating to those forums.

Threads that are subscribed to will still show up as updated in the User CP even if their forum has been "excluded from view".

This feature is handy for tailoring your Unread or Today's post searches to show only the sub forums you want up to date coverage on, without preventing you from taking advantage of the full forum whenever you would like to.

Alternatively, there is a shortcut in the header of the lists labeled 'Exclude Forums From These Results' which will take you right to that section of Options so you can select which forums you want to exclude. Follow the instructions, forums you highlight will be excluded from the lists.

Being able to see the current topics in one click is great. Being able to see the current topics in one click without seeing the latest umpteen posts in games threads...awesome.

To do a search for a specific word (or someone's username) in a thread hit Ctrl-F and a Find box pops up at the very bottom of the screen. There is a next or previous arrow you can use to scroll through the thread.

Ctrl-F is actually a browser feature, rather than an INTJforum feature -- meaning you can use it at any website.

Multiquote flummoxed me for months, ok here goes: At the bottom of each post are the boxes Report, Quote (with one bubble), Quote (with two bubbles), and Reply. For the first post you want to quote click on the second Quote thingie (the one with two bubbles), then do the same thing for each post you want to include until the last one. For the last one use the single Quote (one bubble). Ta da.

I was wondering WTF that double bubble quote was for.... Funny how you have to use that in addition to using the regular quote function.

I may be misunderstanding your post, but if you only want to quote one post you don't need to hit the double button first.

Everything you wanted to know about the post comment feature, but were afraid to ask.

Under someone's avatar at the bottom of their post is a link labelled "comment on post". If you click it a pop up box will appear where you can type in a comment. This is a modification of the v-Bulletin reputation comment system (the terms rep comment and post comment are interchangeable). There are no points to accumulate, the system has been modified to be used on the forum for a quick comment on a post.

Using this feature keeps the threads on topic and allows for feedback directly linked to a post. In the main subforums posts with no substance are deleted so the rep comment feature should be used instead to let someone know you agree with their post, appreciate their terrific post, laughed out loud at their post, etc.

You will get a notification at the very top right of your screen under your username when someone sends you a comment, clicking on the notification will take you to the comments in your User CP. You can see past comments sent to you and ones you have given by clicking on the User CP tab which is on the far left of the forum toolbar (right below the forum banner). The 5 most recent comments you have received and given are displayed in your User CP.

If you click on the thread title in the list of your comments it will take you to your post so you can see which post the person is commenting on. If you click View Archive (at the each list) you can see all of your comments. You can also filter them and find all the comments received or given by a specific user with the Show feature at the top of the Archive. Type in their username (must be spelled completely and correctly) and choose either Comments Received or Comments Given.

[Your comment is only viewable by you and the person who made the post you commented on (and the admins to ensure the comments aren't personal attacks). Using this feature keeps the threads on topic, allows for feedback directly linked to a post, and is quicker and easier than sending someone a private message. In the main subforums posts with no substance are deleted so the rep comment feature should be used instead to let someone know you agree with their post, appreciate their terrific post, laughed out loud at their post, silly banter, mocking them, etc.

So...what you're saying is... you can stalk any closet hugglers or active forumite flirtations...?

Since rep comments aren't private you probably don't want to use them for more than "me too" or "I agree" or "lol". The only private communication on the forum are private messages, and even those can be reported and in extreme cases viewed by the forum owner.

Just to clarify Syn's point, since it is important. The bolded part of this rule:

5. Respect User Privacy
Do not post the contents of private messages on the open forum without the permission of all parties involved. Additionally, we ask that you not reveal personal details about other users without their permission. This specifically includes acts like the posting of addresses or telephone numbers.

Doesn't apply to rep comments. I think it's important that people understand this before using the rep comments for what would otherwise be private communication.

You should add a table of contents so people know the pages where the topic is said.

You have to add a vertical line | between the items for each row and then add table tags around the whole thing like this:

[TABLE]column 1 | column 2 | column 3
Yes | No | Maybe
20% | 50% | 30%[/TABLE]

and you will get this:

column 1 column 2 column 3
Yes No Maybe
20% 50% 30%

(I found the instructions, I've never actually made a pretty table like this, but watch out now that I can.

Alright, smarty-pants, how did you get the BBCode for a table to just display as text (in the top part of your post) without turning into a table?

reckful added to this post, 4 minutes and 32 seconds later...

ALSO: You said you "found the instructions." I found some BBCode stuff under Guidelines/FAQ, but it didn't mention tables. Where's the secret instruction stash?

Here's a quick and dirty shortcut, if you see something in someone's post and you want to know how to do it, quote their post and look at the code they used. That's how I figured out the table stuff, Jezebel used it in the

While we are on the topic of BBCode, there is an easier way to make lists like this:
  • Apples
  • Oranges
  • Bananas
instead of hand typing this:

[LIST][*]Apples[*]Oranges[*]Bananas[/LIST].

You can type your items on separate lines like:

Apples
Oranges
Bananas

and then highlight the lines you want to be made into a list and click one of the list icons in your text editor. The icons will automatically put in the list tags and asterisks. You can choose either numbers (Ordered List) or bullets (Unordered List) from the icons.

How come they can't make it like the Youtube format. Like you get a direct email to your email when anybody replies to your comment...it's great, I love it and always can find my discussions with people. It's wayyy less confusing

vBulletin isn't youtube and that functionality doesn't exist. As mentioned in this thread there are some options to keep up with discussions you are involved with.
