I think this has to do with Fi, so maybe our NFP & SFP friends can expound on this.

Well first off, what I mean is that certain things have to satisfy this need in me, and I'm assuming this need is emotional. For example, I HAVE to make my bed every morning, not because I'm neurotic, but I love to appearance of a nice smooth cover on my bed and I ALWAYS have to have the right song on my Ipod before I go somewhere, or else I'll feel a little off. A definitive example happened to me yesterday, and influenced the creation of this thread. My friends picked me up milk from the store and then labeled it. My friend labeled my milk by putting Js (for my name) on the entire gallon of milk. This really made me feel 'off'. I briefly entertained the thought of throwing away the perfectly good milk, because it gave me a strange feeling, I think it reminded me of looking at a bug with multiple eyes, so I felt slightly apprehensive.

So do any of you guys share these sentiments?

I think my Fi is really well developed for my type and age, probably because I was raised by my SFP mother and I do have strong moral judgements, so that may have something to do with this.

I have OCD, so, of course, I feel like this all the time, about all kinds of things that "don't matter".

But this feeling isn't necessarily pathological. Some people just like their "outer world" to be as orderly as their "inner world".

I get like this about a lot of things. It slightly bugs me whenever I see any collection of things that is not in an organized pattern. It can be any pattern, It just can't be messy and if it is I physically can't resist changing it.

Yeah, I like certain songs when I leave the house. But that's about it. I'll try and notice other things later. :P

This I agree with. If its messy (like my annoying roomate) I will usually be the one to clean it up which irk's me to no end. As for the music portion of the thread I know I'm the same way. I have to be playing (not a certain though) a certain type of song. The type can differ day to day but I can't go anywhere until I find the right one. Kind of annoying.

Oh and you should see my dvd collection. My family things I'm crazy because I have been known to take days at a time sitting down pulling them all out and reorganizing them alphabetically and chronologically. I hate myself the entire time I'm doing it but I cannot handle it when they are not in the proper order. One of the reasons why I got rid of CD's and now just dl my music which is automatically put in ABC order.

UG I could go on but I'm not going to bore you with my insane compulsions.

Sounds more like J OCPD (seems common among INTJs). I also experience this sort of thing.

I have routines that I do every morning while getting ready, and I get annoyed if I have to skip one or more in order to get out the door on time. I actually frequently make myself late because I insist on doing my routine "the right way" before I leave the house.

While I also have a very well-developed Fi function, and have strong moral judgments, I think this sort of "OCD-like" behavior has to do with our "J-ness" and our systematic ways of approaching everyday matters. We like our "routines" and don't like to "break" them.

Things do have to "feel right" to me, but it's not an OCD thing. For me, it's that I can usually tell how something should be by feeling it. A silly example is playing Jenga. I can almost tangibly feel the balance and what removing a certain block will do to the structure. When cooking without a recipe, I can sense how much of an ingredient should be put in there and can feel when I accidentally put too much. It really applies to almost everything I do.

This didn't help me out at all, I'm somewhat of an impulsive downloader. My music Is roughly organized alphabetically by band then album then song order. But I download faster than I organize. My last hardrive had 47 "new folder (#)'s" on the desktop. But fortunately there are some nice opensource media organizers.

I get this way when it comes to making predictions about how people and businesses react.

And another thing, when I'm trying to go to sleep, I NEED to routinely rotate until I find the 'right' spot. It's weird, at one point I'll want to be on my side, and then my stomach, then my other side etc. I dunno if that's the same with everyone.

I guess it's all because we always tend to strive for perfection. Things just have to be 100% according to our internal model in order for us to be completely satisfied.
