Social Engineering is mainly used in the hacking community for attaining information through false pretenses. One of the most common forms of SE is probably 'E-whoring'. E-whoreing is the practice of portraying yourself as a female, and trying to con guys into buying pictures from you. Now, you have a basic idea of what SE is, you're more or less manipulating people so that you can get what you want, or need.

My question(s) to you all is this: Have you ever used any form of SE. Do you find it useful in protecting yourself from others who use it?
(Asked the mod of this section, neither of us are sure where this subject should go.)

I've used it before, and it has helped me out. Once you've done something it's easier to spot others who are trying to use it, it also allowed me to see how easy it is to influence someone's actions based upon their desires and emotions.
