I have nothing to go on, except subjective findings.

If anyone has good links, or discussion, it would be most helpful.

Let us place to question:

What effect does testosterone play on intelligence?

*please let us not 'round' over what the definition of intelligence might be; unless necessary

I don't know how you're defining intelligence or how to answer your question, but there's some evidence testosterone plays a role in memory.

Generally men who have higher levels of testosterone are more impulsive, thus end up with less education and lower paying jobs. That is what the discovery channel said once, so it is probably a made up fact.

High testosterone correlates to lower intelligence.

Unless testosterone is the precursor for DHA?

Well, I have read many articles on prenatal testosterone effecting intelligence, and I was wondering if anyone has any insight (or links to stiudies) on adult testosterone levels and intelligence.

There are many famous male athletes that I'm sure have ultra high levels of testosterone and are highly intelligent thus becoming successful in their careers.

I have a feeling it's yet another variable which is most effective in balance, rather than when severely lacking or in over abundance.

. The fact that they used Cattell's CFIT means the realibility is strong despite language barriers (unlike most standardised tests).

EDIT: Okay, I was too hasty. To make it clear, study deals with non-verbal intelligence aka performance aptitude(s) which was just part of the many subtests of WAIS and Stanford-Binet's. It did not say about crystallized intelligence.

is a study from the University of Alberta in the USA, that found that "people who are brighter than others – an IQ of 130 or higher – were usually exposed to elevated levels of testosterone before birth."

is a study comparing right-handed men with successful and non-successful educational levels. The successful ones had a slightly higher testosterone than the non-successful ones, but not a difference that was statistically significant. The successful ones did have a significantly higher IQ than the non-successful ones. In successful men, the higher the testosterone, the higher the IQ. In the non-successful ones, those with very low testosterone and very high testosterone had a lower IQ, while those with a moderate level of testosterone had a higher IQ.

Take your pick.
