So, the good news is I started a new job recently after months of searching. The bad news is it's only a (very) short-term contract. I am hoping something else will come up in this place because I actually to like there and would like to stay. I recently learned about a new opening that I applied for, and was actually starting to feel somewhat optimistic about it until today when I found out that another temp. employee, hired at that same time as I was, for the same period also applied.
The problem is that I can't shke the feeling of being sure that she will get it and not me. This may not be entirely rational, but to me it seems to make logical sense and I dont know what to do about all the negative thoughts associated with it .... It was bringing up all these feelings of doubt and feeling like a failure, etc. Then I realized that I was reacting as if I had already found out that I didn'g get the job, when in reality I still don't know anything yet. I think it is related to old habits/patterns from my past and always feeling as though I'm not equal to other people, or something along those lines. Anyway, I am wondering if anyone else has a tendency to do this, and if you have any advice about how to stop sinking into negativity once you start feeling discouraged... Thanks for reading my long, complaining rant..... |

If she gets it then something else is in store for you and it wasn't for you anyways. Just do what you can. Focus on process and not outcome.

Be confident in yourself. Try positive self-talk.
