The reasons are multifold. Here are a few:
People are noticing that businesses that incorporate more women on the board do much better. The female kind of intelligence is getting more noticed as something valuable and as an alternative, or at least a complement to the techy-ultra-rationalistic intelligence of men. This last type of intelligence has also been less important in academia since the decline of abstract-analysis type of thinking that was the hallmark of modernism. Women tend to think more holistically, which is better for the environment and the general "health" of the situation, for example in discussion or decision making, which in their approach often has a more "human" touch. There is a lot of talk about women's intelligence now because it has been unnoticed for so long, or if it was noticed it was on the basis of mirroring men's intelligence. |
