Japan has already created the closest human geminoid robots and is working on humanizing them.

Pretty soon we won't be able to tell who is human and who is a robot if japan continues to produce this type of robots.

The one on the left. The middle one looks hideous, and the one on the right isn't as bad, but certainly not as cool as the one on the left.

They done studies on this. Apparently attraction to robots follows the law of diminishing returns, where if they look too much like humans they get creepy.

I think my system would react to that machine as if it was a real person. I wouldn't like to have it in my apartment with me. It'd diminish the quality of my me-time.

I'd prefer to separate robots from fellow humans if at all possible. If they look like people they remind me of zombies. On the surface, they register in your mind as someone you can trust and empathize with. But underneath, they have no soul. They're like creepier versions of stormtroopers. EXECUTE ORDER 66.

Creepy is the word.

I would smash a melancholy looking robot to bits. It's too creepy for words. Looking like a human is not enough, but look like they have emotions too?! Please, stop fucking with my goddamn brain!

I like robots like Big Dog, robots that use animal like anatomies to become maneuverable and versatile.

Imagine Big Dog as a weapons platform.

Interesting. Is it the size of his head or the triangular thing that passes for an eye that makes him suspicious and hateful?

All of those robots are hideous.

---------- Post added 08-11-2012 at 10:54 PM ----------

However, yay for robots. =].

---------- Post added 08-11-2012 at 10:56 PM ----------

I would think it would be people with unmet emotional needs that would prefer human-looking robots. "Unstable" isn't specific enough and is possibly misleading.

Neither, those three robots don't seem very useful at all. Johnny 5 is my type of robot too, functional design but still a face you can talk to about life, the universe and everything; hoping they don't complain constantly.
