I love this thread because I am in the same situation except I am 21 and will be 22 in December. I have been suspected of being gay because I am a virgin and never seem to date but also I am rather artistic. You know those silly stereotypes. In high school, some of the jocks and some others assumed I was gay. But I never talked to them so they didn't really know anything about me other than my name and being in the same class as them. My voice is rather deep too. I also have a social anxiety issue and always have. It's prevented me from being intimate. I have to get to know a girl really well before I will do anything sexual with her. There's this girl I have known since middle school and we are now in college and I'm strongly attracted to her but alas she has a boyfriend. Some members of my family have thought I was gay but honestly I don't care. There's no proof that I'm gay but there's no proof that I'm not gay either.

I've never been read as a lesbian, despite the really short hair and a number of other things, but I've had a disproportionate number of people ask me if I want to have a threesome with them or if I want to dominate them. I'm actually a pretty vanilla person, but for some reason come off as very kinky.

I take it as a massive compliment, especially when it's women/girls telling me. It means I must be doing -something- right in the style department.

Ah, people think I am a lesbian sometimes. I'm not really sure why, I wear dresses and am in no way stereotypical "dyke" but I hang out with guys mostly. I'm not big on makeup, am straightforward in my communications and I haven't had a boyfriend in six years, maybe that's what leads people to think that. And I'm sort of more functional in the way I dress - I use a purse/backpack because it is far more useful and easier to take on a bicycle and in the winter I'll wear heavy duty boots. I'd rather carry a switchblade than lipgloss.

Buuut - I just attribute the les accusations to mean ladies must think I'm pretty sexy

Haha this happens all the time. I always return the question by asking them, "Is it not possible for humans to be self-sufficient and not require a companion?" and walk away.

As someone mentioned, it is great fun piquing the curiousity of others just because you do not follow the social norm.
