As I read it, "we" refers to any American politician making a speech that addresses the nation as a whole. Said politicians use "we" as a rhetorical device to corral all Americans into one group whose interests are assumed to be the same. This also applies to media figures when they refer to "American interests" geopolitically as "our interests."
In this particular post, however, there is a weaker interpretation: that the governments of the world should restrict their militaries to legitimate self-defense rather than imperial domination in the service of a financial elite. |

I just want to clarify that the intelligence community was being dismantled brick by brick, operative by operative long before 911 by the politicians and their rival agencies. Its only just now starting to build back up and even then, gradually. Otherwise, you are correct.
The majority of the military, over 90% dont ever see combat. Let alone the fact that theres Standard Operating Procedures, Escalation of Force procedures among other factors that control combat and killing someone. Dont use a catch-all on those in the military as if you know exactly what its all about. Unless you've been in it or actually bothered to study it through the people that are in it. You are only judging you opinions on internet topics written by other biased individuals and your own non-existing experience with the military.
Many of your posts state a catch-all opinion on the military and leave it at that with absolutely no explanation. Please explain your opinions more clearly or it just seems you're an ignorant person who is fearful that his opinions are incorrect and that you dont wish to be proven wrong. |

You need a military just to have one. If we don't have one, we're fucked. We need to maintain, but we don't need to spend half as much as we are. |

1) ME became a hotbed of strife during old English (as in UK) imperialism. (19th and early 20th century)
2) Later on, the ME became the scene of a proxy war between emerging super powers. (mid 20th century) 3) Then the West ran out of it's own oil - I'm sure politicians and geologists knew it was coming (late 20th century) |

Some absurd percentage of the world's energy is controlled by fanatical desert madmen. Even if the US does not buy much oil from the Middle East, Ahmadinejad & Friends still inform its price. You can say all you want about how these middle east wars are testosterone or "just money," but energy is nothing less than life itself now.

Yes. There's a slogan I've seen - "Renewable energy is Homeland Security". But certain political players don't seem to care or understand this. |

Yes-ish. I am talking about how we actually trained the people that did 911 in the tactics used to actually complete 911 when Osama and Company were fighting the Red Menace. To be honest, the whole middle eastern situation is happening because the cold war isn't there anymore.
To control the oceans like we do, the navy still needs that cash. Otherwise, the system will dissolve and economies will go down the shitter because there will be war in the worlds oceans as folks are trying to carve out their own territory. |
