To be honest I have never seen Borat or the Ali G Show before. Brüno was hilarious, so much slapstick humor and satire mixed in scenes with awkward moments you can't help but laugh at! I would highly recommend seeing this film for a good laugh!

Has anyone else seen Brüno? How does it compare to Cohen's previous work? Did you like it?

Haven't seen Brüno, but Borat was really hilarious (and clever) comedy. Borat (and also Ali G) is as a character really sympatethic even though he's an racist and an jerk, he's just an harmless idiot.

Cohen is really a genious with creating characters and the way that he sticks with them (even when in trouble) is incredible.

The amount of graphic sex (gay and straight), the WW2/Holocaust jokes, and the awful things Cohen got people to say made this the most offensive movie I've ever seen...and I loved it.

INTJs & others, it's Ekagra's first thread! Thunderous applause, I am sure. So let's talk about what matters most -- entertainment! I'm Ekagra, thank God I'm not Bruno, though I did find that film to be rather jolly. They say it's an expose of homophobia but I think it's an expose of the secrets we keep - of the assumptions we make and never discuss to make our world make sense. Sasha Cohen has a genius for getting people to reveal their little tight lipped secrets, though, on the other hand, how much of the film was staged and how much was real? Hmmmn, Hmmm. It was a fine film, besmeared only at the ending with those insipid cameos by has-beens, Sting, Elton John, Bono and whatshisname. What say you?

I loved the movie. There were several parts that were so graphic I had to look away (for example, during his pilot episode

), but there were more laugh-out-loud moments in this movie than in most comedies produced by the Hollywood, and the bang/buck ratio was fantastic.

Despite what reviews say, the movie isn't just about homophobia. It makes fun of anything and everything it comes across: parents exploiting their little children, teevee talk shows, evangelical ministers who try to "pray the gay away," idiots who work in PR companies, et cetera. And of course, who can forget the soon-to-be-classic scene of Bruno and three hunters?
"Mike, the bear ate all my clothes and all that's left is this pack of condoms. Can I sleep in your tent?"

I've not seen Brüno yet, but I saw Borat before. It was rated R in the US, where I live it's from eleven and up. That's humour in itself.

I saw it last weekend. Apparently my brother talked my mother into seeing it, and I received an invitation to go. It was funny seeing my mom's reactions to some of the more...graphic scenes.

I had already seen Borat, so I knew going into expect a lot of homoerotic action between two very unattractive men. I thought that some of the scenes were funny, but it just seemed to be a rehashed plot of the Borat movie. Crazy foreigner travels to America, experiences culture shock, has hidden gay feelings for his sidekick, breaks up with sidekick, they get back together, etc... It basically extended on satirizing a population that was already satirized in Borat - the conservative South.

Overall, it's a funny movie, but I would not spend $10 to see it theaters...wait for video

I really enjoyed Bruno and Borat. The Ali G show is also hilarious to me, the Ali G movie wasn't as funny. It's completely scripted unlike the others but was still good for a laugh.

dirty wizard or homeless santa!!

I really enjoyed Borat and am looking forward to Bruno (hey, how did you get the : umlaut?)

Personally I prefer humor that is not quite so mean, but yeah, pretty funny to see the conserviative woman explaining the toilet to Borat. You know what, tho, put yourself in the position of the conservative woman, how would you explain a toilet to someone who indicated he had never seen one before? I would have preferred that Borat take the jokes in a scene like that. That's just me, tho.

Sasha Boran is very talented.

Bruno was like 5 times more offensive than I thought it was going to be... which is really saying something. There is a talking CGI penis in this movie. It doesn't drag at all and ends with the best climax haha.... hahahhaa... shit. cry more homophobes

I find it extremely vulgar and ugly. It's a very sad sign for our culture when someone is able to become millionaires through selling this kind of trash. It probably appeals to the same type of morally bankrupt people who rot in front of their TV watching reality shows all day, and whom find the greatest of enjoyment in listening to each other farting. Watching Bruno is similar to degrading yourself, and insulting your own intellect. Mentally, it's similar to the physical act of rolling around in defecation.

Clear enough?

I think that would be pretty funny to watch as well.

Farting is cliche.

Shocking, vulgar, offensive, and outright hillarius! I loved it. Non-stop laugher that quite literally brought me to tears.

Though, I wonder, how did this movie manage to get away with an "R" rating? I had always assumed in the past that there were limits to what was allowed to be shown on the big screen. Clearly I was mistaken. I also liked how some of the scenes were censored. It's like... if they're censoring that, then wtf was all that stuff I just saw 10 minuts ago?

Of course, this movie is definetly not for everyone. It should go with out saying that some people are going to really, really hate this movie (which, if anything, just adds to its epic greatness IMO).

As far as his previous work is concerned, I am not a fan of borat, but the ali-G character is great.

SBC is an epic shit-disturber. That is what I respect most of him.

Sure some of it is juvenile, but then ... society is juvenile.

The MMA event scene.... brilliant. Nothing captured raw human emotion like that scene.

However, I thought that some parts of the movie were staged; which took away from it.

I've seen it.

I didn't like it compared to his other works. He's just way too gay. I think Borat was so great because there was a certain vulnerability and innocence that one can associate with him AND he did it all in good taste.

The only vulnerability and innocence with Bruno is his hard core denial. After a while, that alone just gets annoying. Also, Bruno simply takes things way too far.
