I'm interested in improving on my T function of my personality. I am somewhat at a loss as to how to do this (other than reading more and trying to gain more knowledge). I'm looking to maximize the proficiency of my time this summer for this endeavor.

How exactly would you go about getting better at thinking? What systems would you recommend that I try out? Any suggestions?

(Thanks in advance for any help that is provided)

I'm not sure I understand your question, T personality types are not necessarily smarter than F types, we just make decisions based solely on logical reasoning and never factor in the subjective.

I'm not sure this is something one can change, but it doesn't have to be a bad thing =)

Like was said above, thinking isn't about being smart or knowing a lot (I've known many Ts who were idiots or too close-minded to want to learn anything new), it's about making decisions based on logic, as opposed to ethics (what works better, as opposed to what makes you or other people happy).

To answer your question, to be more T, try to do things because they make sense, not because it makes everyone or you happy. Always have a logical reason for doing things. I don't think that's exactly what you're looking for, though.

What you're talking about is getting smarter. Only thing I can think of to do that is to read, do puzzles, solve math problems, try anything that is mentally challenging.

First of all, thinking is a decision making process, so reading a lot and gaining knowledge has barely anything to do with thinking since you're not making any decision....reading a lot and gaining knowledge has more to do with intuition and sensing (most likely intuition in your case since you're an INTJ)

If you want to improve your T function, perform activities that demand logical decision making such as puzzle solving, strategizing, analyzing, playing chess, planning for things, trying to win competitive activities with others, etc....

Remember, if you're not making any decision, you're not exercising your T function
