Rage expressed by crying.

The time that sticks out in my mind is when I caught colleague at work doing something they shouldn't have been doing. He lied about it. I told him what he'd said didn't make logical sense, so he must be lying, and he said, "Don't you dare talk back to me, you retarded little office bimbo." This insult I coped with pretty well -- the guy in question was a foul-mouthed psychotic monkey. It was the fact my manager heard the whole conversation and did nothing to discipline my colleague that I found really hurtful, as I have a close personal relationship with the MDs at my workplace.

I was so enraged at the time I couldn't say anything, absolutely fuming. By the time I'd walked home (A half-hour walk) it had cooled into impotent misery, and I started crying the moment I opened my door.

Working in a plumbing company, I guess I get insulted more tha the average person. Insults to my intelligence, to the company in general, personal accusations, etc. It used to really bother me, but now I'm sort of numbed to it.

Hmm... that's the reverse of what I do. If somebody actually causes me to start crying, that's the first sign they need to start running. Really fast. The only times I've ever been berserk, I started crying uncontrollably first. And then the memory is somewhat hazy, but it involves everybody running like crazy to get away from me.

Insults pretty much go unanswered by me. "Don't answer a fool according to his folly."

Agreed. The only thing that uber pisses me off is when someone insults my intelligence. My pat reply to this situation is, "If I need my intelligence insulted, I'll have it done by someone qualified to do so."

I'm generally difficult to insult - either you're right, or you're not worth my time anyway...

There are some exceptions. Particularly when someone who knows me really well frames something about me in a really uncharitable way, or picks an especially inappropriate time to deal a low blow. My mother is incredibly skilled in this, and with her, it's often appearance-related.

My ESFJ boss insults me in her way on at least a weekly basis, by talking down to me, or implying (in what she seems to think is a subtle way, but is actually pretty ham-handed) that I'm not quite on her level in whatever respect.

It usually seems kind of mystifying and laughable to me; she seems so oblivious to the fact that for all her years of experience and MBA and 6 figures, she's still kind of an insecure farmgirl, who has to tell you how much her suit cost. I just don't care about many of the things she cares about, or at least not in the same way, so I'm not too fazed by her.

Though it is hard sometimes, just taking it, small moments as they are... for the most part, I just look at it as another mildly annoying and boring job requirement under the category of "dealing with people." Playing one-up with my boss would be a lose-lose situation for me.
