To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. so what do you guys think? Are you willing to take the responsibility instead of relying on your partner? Just thought of the ultimate pregnancy prevention.. male birth control + female birth control + condom |

Of course. Females have legal privilege and the ability to enslave men at will, with the birth of a child. I would take this pill and hamstring the female's legal power.

I plan on getting a vasectomy, there is no logical reason to have a child. I don't want to pay for it myself, though. Maybe I should become an infamous troll and start a blog then have a donate button for my vasectomy fund. I'm sure I could convince plenty of people to pay me to never reproduce. |

Well, fortunately I'm ace, so I probably never have to worry about this shit. But on the off, off, chance I find a female that is not completely repugnant, I would def take male birth control. No surgery though. Just not comfortable with that, but if you are, more power to ya. |

You do realize that most polls done on this question tend to show very strong support for such a pill so I'm not sure where the seemingly accusatory tone towards men comes from. |

I'm not accusing anyone, its just that some men are a little funny about their manhood. I was just curious what peoples response is. The tone that I get from men is that birth control is mainly the womens responsibility. I know this is not representative of the general population, so im just curious how men would react if they would suddenly expected to remember to take a pill everyday, dealing with side effects etc. So far, men have had it pretty easy with regard to contraceptive methods. |

Even amongst married couples it is common for the man to wish to delay childrearing. Lots of women so desire to be mothers than they will 'forget to take the pill'. They will even do this when unmarried in order to obtain the motherhood life. If men could control their own fertility this option is removed and there will be a lot more frustrated women out there. I reckon male birth control will be a big hit with men.

It's a great idea, particularly if they both use contraceptives. This will help to ensure that no unwanted pregnancies occur.

I think it's a positive development, I personally don't know any guys who would actually use it, but I'm sure there are plenty out there. My only hope/concern is that people don't think they are suddenly invincible and forego condoms. A pill might save you from a baby but now that we have drug resistant STIs out there.... condoms definitely aren't going anywhere.

i don't think most men would remember to take a pill everyday. maybe some really responsible, organized men. hopefully in any serious relationship a lot has been talked through and gone over and a mutual decision is made to satisfy everyone and also keep everyone STI safe. i agree condoms aren't going anywhere, though. they are definitely still needed.

I think a lot of guys are going to think of this as an alternative to a condom.

The stopped sperm production seems to be an unexpected side-effect of people trying to do something else. Who can say what the long term side-effects of this thing on a human are.
That said, I think the man should take responsibility and use a condom or whatever. |

Great news, gives men more options to control their fertility. If I were a man, I would get a vasectomy out of fear of being made into a father against my will (at least as a woman, I have abortion as a last resort), but it must be very difficult for men who want children one day to protect themselves, if for some reason they can't use condoms. I hope it becomes available soon.

Sounds like the rant of a man that doesn't take accountability for his own sperm. |

Like brushing one's teeth or combing one's hair, heck I even forget to tie my shoelaces. Like, I drink a black coffee every single morning. How much harder can it be to add one more thing. |

Men are just as responsible for birth control as women. |

Yeah I don't really have a lot of sympathy. You can choose to wear a condom, regardless if she's on the pill or not, and if she says no, walk away. Oh so difficult.

Actually, my dear, I'm ace. Cute shaming attempt though.
I agree. Which is why this is a great development. |

I don't disagree that a male birth control pill would be awesome. One more tool in the toolbox, so to speak. However, laying all the responsibility on ONE party when clearly it takes TWO... fallacy, fallacy, fallacy. |

Well, you have all the choice when you're pregnant, correct? The man doesn't get any input, and rightfully so, because it's your body and your fetus. |

Whoah people. The who's the biggest victim game!
Two-way accountability can only be a step forward, even though condoms and birth control have been around for a long time. Irresponsible people will always find an excuse to blame others for personal choice to either not wear a condom and/or to not use some form of female birth control. The other problem with birth control of any form is cost and access. Since cost is a barrier for entry (ha ha) it really is cheaper on taxpayers to supplement birth control, than the cost of 18 years of child/parent(s) support. Religious beliefs can also be a barrier for entry, in how religion stigmatises the entire concept of sex, making it shameful so people secretly do crazy shit to get some. This includes being ashamed to purchase or use birth control. |
