So if you are an INTJ and you love your job, what exactly do you do?

I do technical support for photo labs. My co-workers are pretty kickass, the work is challenging, and changes frequently. It's fast paced usually, which makes the day go by faster. It's not the grandest job in the world, or anything that's going to make some sort of difference to anything, but I've had so many incredibly shitty jobs before this one that it makes this place seem like paradise in comparison. Also, it's like solving puzzles all day long. I love puzzles.

I have two jobs, I'm a clerk and I do maintenance at a store/restaurant. I like both jobs but more because I have a very light workload and I basically just fuck around all day.

I was the Chief Operating Officer of my last company, responsible for building and running that small company.
Power is addictive, so the job satisfaction was off the scale. |

I work in academic research, molecular biology specifically.
There are some things I don't like about it, but for the most part it suits me well. There is variety, there are intellectual challenges, the opportunities manage your own project, working independently, the opportunity to learn and use that knowledge to theorize, actually being able to test hypotheses that you have formulated, teaching and training people, and just so many opportunities to improve yourself in so many ways. The day-to-day work is pretty chill and casual and although it can sometimes be monotonous I've made friends with such great people that it makes those slow times go by faster as well. |

I'm a consultant. I love the work that I do, and think highly of the company I work for. I despise my boss.

I've always wanted to work in a video store à la High Fidelity. Get paid to watch tonnes of movies all day. |

I love my job, but it's extremely draining and consuming.
I work as an artist (as in I make art for games, movies, etc). It's a field that requires a lot of constant research and study and that is always challenging. |

I would love to see your work, can you say what you have made art for? |

I'm a prosecutor. I've wanted to be a prosecutor since I did a mock trial in my 9th grade civics class. Love it.

Training and development manager. I am building the department through new processes and programs. I love it. I get to organize information and make it fit together. I love the creative process and I have almost total autonomy which is a HUGE win for me.

I love my job and the challenges it brings on a daily basis. I love when processes need to be streamlined, as I'm very good at it. I love learning how to test new technologies and secure them. I love the fact that learning is a never ending process. I love the idea of having individuals look up to me for guidance. I love building collaboration environments and working with a group of individuals to come up with the best solutions for all involved. I love sharing knowledge and picking others brains for theirs. In short, there is nothing I don't like about it. But, it does requires that the "E" be a bit developed as contact with others is constant. |

Research assistant. (Yes, low on the ladder, but I'm still in school!)
I bounce around from project to project, it's always a new topic, I have learnt so much, it's insane. I've worked on global projects, emergency management, looking at social media and natural disasters, studied how playing benefits health, mental illness and homelessness, created curricula, run campaigns. It's really all over the place and it's wonderful. It's like having people pay you to learn. You meet others who are at the tops of their fields and are so passionate about what they do. Super cool. |

Research Assistant currently completing masters/Electrical Engineering Major with love for Computer Science/optimization algorithms.
I started working fulltime while getting my masters slowly in May. I work for a startup that became successful but still only 400 or so people in it globally, so I love it because I get to be very free, individual, work in my own way and theres still lots of growth/opportunity for me. The company does energy efficiency, which is what I specialize in academically within Electrical Engineering. SO my job is to design windfarms, solar farms, and in general electrical substations doing harmonic filtering/energy efficiency to the grid. Its basically all that "smart Grid" stuff you hear people talking about. So I operate/design in the 69kV - 345Kv range, so a high voltage power engineer. I like what I do because I do most of the theoretical electrical engineering work by myself and only have it checked over by a P.E. to get stamped/mentor me/ correct me as I'm in my first few months. So I get to work independently and comprehensively (good as I'm project/research oriented), and come to people about trying new things. Were all engineers and know we all like our own personal space but were nice and know how to collaborate, a perfect balance for me. Finally, and not consistent with all INTJs, outside of the mental challenge INTJs crave, I feel like I'm making a positive difference. I design sustainable energy farms, that's so cool! I love my job. Hopefully will end up in higher level research for certain energy technologies. ---------- Post added 08-17-2012 at 12:03 AM ---------- Silverity your work sounds awesome. I'm a big systemizer too as a female INTJ and alot of the stuff I wanna do eventually is the stuff you are doing, optimizing and understanding abstract systems/networks. In a way, power engineering is kind of like a giant system and designing a substation for me has a very similar thought process of systemizing abstract networks/grids. Thats why I want to learn more about optimization algorithms. I love it. Good luck I'm jealous. Ultimately I want your job, have people pay me to learn about optimizing systems. Very cool. Let me know if you ever wanna trade. |

I analyze patient specimens for signs of disease.
Love playing with microscopes. Love identifying rare, life-changing diseases. Love playing with and fixing (most) of the lab robots. Love teach clueless doctors about what we do. Did I mention I get paid to play with microscopes all day? I can't describe just how awesome this can be... To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. Just another day in the lab. |

Electrical Engineer at a consulting firm.
I love how every project is different. I love figuring out a few design options, and then determining which is best for our client. I love creating engineering drawings that are functional, and aesthetically pleasing. I love how I'll never understand all of it. There will always be more to learn. New products we can design with, and new systems to implement efficient design procedures. |

Student Support Specialist/Project Specialist for an engineering program at a community college
Love: great work environment with awesome students/faculty/staff to work with, helping people do what they didn't think they could do, great pay (for my field), flexible work schedule, control over who gets into the program so I can watch the magic happen with the various personalities with different interests collide and work together, many moving pieces for me to juggle such as event planning and partnership building for engineering speakers, internship placement sites, partnering faculty/staff, etc |
