Magician, while we all know that calling down meteors is just a charade of lie in reality. Mages got the power enough to bomb the Earth back to Ice Age. No wonder why these guys are being looked down and sneered upon for being puny, but their minds are their biggest asset.
Don't go easy on these folks. Arguing with mages means you're telling them that they're either correct or you're just plain wrong. Their reasoning is like logic on steroids. |

Huh, thought I replied in this thread already.
Throughout history I mostly played a thief/assasin, the most rewarding and it's cool for the sneak attacks and the prestige. Warrior is cool also, just because of the name. A knight is cool because of the heavy armor and being invincible. Paladin is cool because of the tactical advantages and the group play. Also like white mage because of the team play and like playing it good. My new favorite thing is necromancer in Guild Wars 2, though, that just feels sooooo cool "Come, my minion!", and that it feel like cheating because you're playing with death and life, and the draining. I think it's more interesting to say what my favorite abilities are: Minions Berserk (well in FF's, when they can't do anything else anymore than attack) Drain Steal Bonus Sneak Damage Group Heal Jumping to foe/pulling foe towards you/prohibiting movement/getting away from foe etc. Smoke Bombs Haste Guarding your team with your superior hp and defense Sacrificing hp for this or that HP regen Also that Scorpion Wire technique from the Thief in Guild Wars 2 feels very sweet, I always say "Come over heeere!" like Scorpion from MK, or I do it in my mind. It's often a good choice to use also.

Magician/Warrior for most RPGs. Both have very good pros and cons.
I`m also playing a rouge-like character in TESIV:Oblivion - a khajit assasin, and I like it very much. |

I had a gut feeling "magician" would be the favored response on an INTJ forum...
RPGs that let me play a rogue/mage hybrid are usually my favorite like Elder Scrolls and Neverwinter Nights. |

Being able to swing around an axe, sword, mace or whatever you want is cool. Being able to kill from the shadows is also fun now and again. But being a mage is always going to be more enjoyable in my opinion for the shear fact that only a magician can have such versatility with their attacks. I mean some spells I've seen are meteors, fireballs, ice spears, thunderbolts and many many more. But if possible I'd like to have an axe in my right hand and a spell in the left. That's part of the reason skyrim is still in my ps3.

Maybe with magic I just don't see the skill in it. People here think it requires intelligence, hard work, and studying to cast those things. But I don't feel it that way, you can't learn to shoot iceshards from your hands, you can either do that or you can't. Like in Braveheart he says something like this "yeah, I heard William Wallace is 7 feet tall and can shoot lightning bolts from his eyes, and fire from his arse." So alchemists are always cooler in my book, because that is something you have to learn. And the versatility isn't often that much better than other classes, if any at all.

More games should find a way to implement an Alchemist class.
And no, you don't have to make the player pick flowers 75% of the time to make it work. |

I would be like the myrmidon/swordmaster from Fire Emblem games. Fast, concise, agile, critical...Dodge attacks well, but get hit hard when I do get hit hard.

I played an agility / luck build knight in Ragnarok. I had a two handed sword, two hand quicken, and a peco peco. I played as a guy because I would get hit on playing as a female. |

Mage/Rogue
I like magic, but I also enjoy being a stealthy and acrobatic motherfucker. It's pretty much how I play Skyrim. |

It depends on the game. I also tend to play trough games I enjoy several times, as different classes/play-styles. But most of the time, I prefer a warrior, using giant weapons, doing heavy damage. But only in games with meaty combat, like Dark/Demon Souls.
I like being a mage sort of character, until I get bored of the flashy spells. And being a rogue style character can be really fun and challenging in a glass cannon sort of way. |

Rogue. The rogue is insanely versatile. Depending on the game there's a certain amount of attention to detail, cunning, and needed intimate knowledge about a plethora of things. Lay of the land, stealth, range, CQC, the enemy etc etc. I usually find myself bored playing as a magic user. But depending on the game, lets say Baldurs Gate, I want a magic user in my party for a support role or any game that has a party system. But just clicking on something and casting a spell, it bores me to tears. |

Back in the day when I played D&D I was a bard barbarian. Lover of music, multi-talented but great at nothing, still good at melee combat.

I almost always play a rogue. But I also lose interest in MMOs really quickly, and have never really played an RPG in reality (but, if I did, I'd still be a rogue).

Druid/Shaman/Ranger/Rogue/Other
If I can't get the above I go for mage classes. |

I guess I would be Rogue. I like to play as Ranged characters, taking out important targets from the shadows, and going into hiding and striking when the time is right.
An example is, in the new MMO DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online) I play a stealth based Druid/Arcane Archer. My character has 17 lvls of the Druid Class, 2 of the Monk, and 1 of the wizard. |

Warrior based class for me. I'm a sucker for the big armor. I always prefer to be a tank if possible. Nothing is more satisfying in a game for me than charging into the midst of a sea of enemies and beating each one down without getting so much as a scratch to the HP bar. I also heartily enjoy protecting others from harm if that is possible as well.

Generally, I prefer to take the support role, which usually means Mage. While not as romantic as the three major roles, playing the troubleshooter for my allies, or troublecauser for my enemies, is the role I seem to subconsciously gravitate towards most often. This still varies quite a bit though. If it's a game where I can expect to be largely reliant on myself, the more classical blasting mage, or a blend of the archetypes, is the more likely choice.
Though sometimes, I just go off in completely different direction in some games; in the Mass Effect series I focused on Infiltrator most of the time, and in the Battlefield series I tend to be a frontline combatant, rather than sniping or playing a support role. |

Depends on the game, but generally in RPGs that require teamwork I like being whichever character is the tank, normally that means a paladin/templar.

I always thought the typical Fighter - Rogue - Wizard trio was kind of a non-question. Lets see, do you want the power to hit things really hard, be sneaky, OR RAPE THE FABRIC OF REALITY WITH YOUR MIND.
The exception to this was System Shock 2. While perverting the laws of physics at whim sounds fun, when the only thing between me and the cold vacuum of space is a quickly deteriorating ship years away from any help, I want to know my way around power tools. I chose the engineer. |

First preference is archer, or pretty much any ranged weapon that has a high aspd and dps, and is thus easy to solo
Second choice, agility based melees, like rogues or anything with high dodge, also easy to solo but can be shitty when you want to go after bosses on your own All of the above is cause I'm really into PVM though.... if I decide to go with a group or PVP or something then third choice, priest, I'm really good at supporting a large group, I only play these if I want to feel badass yea, I sit there and think you definitely can't do shit without me and I'm the best damn priest you ever did see, and get an ego boost and crap. |

Melee, magic hybrids: 2-h shaman, I like to be resourceful. If not available , just go Archer(or whatever ranged) but would still come close to hit you with my bow at times lol.
