mods: This might be better suited in G&A, so move it if needed!

The Kiss Cam is a charade that goes on in sports arenas, where during a break/intermission, a camera will *randomly* focus on two people and the crowd will pressure them to kiss for the entire arena to view. Those who give into the pressure and kiss are applauded. Those who don't get boos. This is becoming more and more popular at professional basketball games, hockey games, etc.

Personally, it terrifies me and makes me not want to go to any sporting event that has it, given my fear of being the center-of-attention. As well, the point of a sporting event, in my opinion, should be to watch the game being played. Pop-culture seems to love it, though. What do you think of this?

I hate shit like this when they try to appeal to non-sports fans, like shooting t-shirts and stuff into the crowd or the flashy entrances. Get the fuck to the point which is the sport itself.

So what if you get bood, not like their serious or anything, just that they want to shout SOMETHING and it's kind of a bummer but not that they don't respect that choice. If people wouldn't boo it wouldn't be fun, would do it myself if I felt like contributing to the atmosphere. Only downside would be if it would be awkward kissing or not kissing when you are with someone that has kinda mixed feelings or something, or if you do yourself. I think it's more fun than nothing in the break. Whiny thread.

Mmyes. I don't really care one way or another. My friend went to a Katy Perry concert where there was a kiss cam... except the audience was mostly comprised of females. I received a facebook update from her around 10pm, "Lot of girl on girl love here at the concert".

Anyway. I wouldn't let it stop you from attending an event =P Just go with a friend of the same sex and they probably won't focus on you.

Sounds like fun, because then I'd get to give the entire arena with one of these:

That's kinda to be expected when Katy Perry's breakout hit was "I kissed a girl".

No one is FORCING you to kiss. Holy shit.

Anyone who thinks peer pressure is 'going too far' apparently never made it out of high school without getting dicked over by all their friends. If I were on kiss cam with someone that I shouldn't be/didn't want to be kissing I'd shake my head emphatically 'no' with a smile. Maybe motion to the ring on my finger. But fuck, a kiss on the cheek isn't going to give me rabies. I'm not great in the spotlight but the ordeal isn't going to kill me.

This thread is hilarious.

I would probably dance for the kiss cam rather than kiss.

That's for sports fans, too. It's nice to have a little build-up around matches, get you into it.

I don't know. I wouldn't want to see two players/teams quickly run onto a court/pitch, immediately get to their match, sit still in a corner during breaks and leave at the moment the final buzzer sounds. I don't see the problem.

Irritating. But "terrifying" is an overstatement. Just give them the finger, as was said above.

The only time it would be very awkward would be a first date, where one party wanted a kiss and the other didn't. Cringeworthy.

Kiss, don't kiss, whichever. One second after the camera moves on and no one remembers that person they didn't know in the first place. It's not that big of a deal.

:shrugs: If you consider playoff games, the tension and noise levels are already buzzing at peak. That's more than enough for me since you have to scream at who you're with, to hear each other.

Bit of a purist here except for the music, although some of the music sucks bad. Get to it since I came for the game.

It's not like they do it while the game is playing and the break is there because they want to do that kisscam thing. I doubt anyone here wouldn't watch the screen if they got nothing else to do.

Nothing good can come out from being surrounded by so many of those team sport loving creatures.

^All the hating between teams their fans will stop if they just show two hot chicks kissing with both teams shirts.
