I used to, but I decided that people who annoy me still say things I need to hear; in fact, maybe that's why they annoy me. So, I un-ignored everybody.

Bravo. If someone pushes my buttons I need to figure out why. Then it doesn't happen again. Most of my shirts don't have any buttons left on them.

So the current breakdown by gender for 111 votes:

Males Ignoring:
No one: 56%
Up to 5: 25%
More than 5: 6%
??: 13%

Females Ignoring:
No one: 58%
Up to 5: 19%
More than 5: 12%
??: 11%

For users of the ignore function - although the numbers are low:
Men who ignored five or less: 81%
Men who ignored more than five: 19%
Women who ignored five or less: 62%
Women who ignored more than five: 38%

---

I wanted to see if the approach of dealing with people who annoy you or that you can't handle, by utterly cutting them out was more common in men or women, and this tool looked like it might be a decent indicator.
For these numbers... women don't use it more often than men on the whole, although those that use it may use it more often.

(although the numbers of people who actually use it is low, so this may not mean much)

Never. I’ve always actively sought out a broad array of opinions on any topic of interest. Here, as in real life, I regularly read people and opinions that I disagree with in order to balance my subjective worldview. I often respect those who clearly convey an original, informed, well-reasoned argument, even if I disagree with their conclusions.

were even available until around 1990 and I'd gotten good at scrolling down well enough by then so I never bothered to use any ignore methods.

The only exception is one forum for Christians where there is one subforum they allow us heretics and infidels to post just so they have the opportunity to try to convert us all. There are a handful of people who turn up on that subforum that post the same exact cut & paste jobs I've seen since the mid-to-late 80s that I've put one or two on ignore.

I am currently sitting with 6 on the ignore list, and only one of them is due to their posts. For that one, it's not even because I dislike the posts, but because they're so fucking long and they never make any point. I prefer to have it condensed so I can easily scroll on by if I want, or I can open the post and read their thoughts if I'm interested.

The others are for similar reasons as psykhe, I suppose. They're creepy towards me, and I would prefer privacy from them as well as not having to put up with any notes from them.

I'm only posting to this thread to let you know I'm ignoring all of you. Ignorance requires a formalized process of notification, or it doesn't work.
