First he grants amnesty to illegal immigrants and now he is blatantly going overseas to ask for cash for his political campaign.

For you Liberals that are American citizens, how do you justify rooting for this bozo? Clinton was at least likable even though we knew he was a crook. There was never any doubt that he had America's interests and his own in mind when he did things. With Obama it seems like he panders to illegal immigrants and foreigners. The way he bows to other world leaders on multiple occasions. His secret kill list that may or may not contain the names of US citizens.

What do you think of this latest development in light of what has preceded it?

I suspect that you would find a lot of overseas money being contributed to the Romney campaign as well. The sources you read would probably not mention that though. It would be interesting to see who has the most foreign money coming to their campaign: Obama or Romney. And, how well would your implications of impropriety hold up if it were to turn out that Romney was getting more foreign money that Obama (a lot of foreign money goes to lobbying for trade agreements and other Republican favorites). We may not like it but nowadays few politicians will turn down any money; legal or questionable. Here is a place to start researching if you are interested in foreign funding (or purchasing access) for both parties.

I think it should be obvious that foreign money means the candidate in question is going to be putting foreign interests before American interests, or the foreigners would not be giving them the money. If Romney is doing this too then it needs to come to light.

Obama is flying overseas to talk to US citizens who live abroad to ask them for money? This keeps getting better all the time.

Dude... that's the nature of the game now. Anyone, in any country, can donate an unlimited amount of money to an American political campaign... indirectly through PAC's.

Getting pissed off at one side for it indicates that you are unaware of this fact; and you might be misconstrued as a GOP honk.

The US Government is for sale. Cost you about $100k to buy yourself a Congressman/Senator.
(and the favorable legislation that kind of cash can buy)

If bribery is so blatant it needs to be prosecuted. I hope we are not that far gone yet.

So which group do you think has the People's best interests in mind? Ex-pats or bankers?

It's been that far gone, now the difference is that it's just legal on both sides.

That's what it says at the beginning of the article you linked.

And conservatives, including the esteemed John Roberts (during a State of the Union speech, no less), scoffed at the impact of Citizens United. Legislative repeal is really the only hope we have left to have a voice in the political process as non-mega corps.

Well, I guess Justice Alito has just proven to be full of horse shit when he mouthed during the State of the Union Address that the Citizens United ruling would not allow foreign money to enter our politics.

Also, I am shocked...shocked...to find there is gambling going on in here!

Please excuse me, I have to go hand Captain Renault his winnings.

I do. Regardless of the problem of both parties kow-towing to the same donors; and leading the country down two ultimately indistinguishable paths...

You'd have to be willfully ignorant to vote for his counterpart.

As far as foreign interference in your elections, look no further than the US Chamber of Commerce.

That's perfect. Expats probably want tax breaks and pardons while banks want a gentleman's agreement for another bailout.

Democracy is a sham in most countries because money, more than anything else, decides election outcomes. What difference does it make if it's domestic or foreign money? In either case, people are voting for whom they are told to vote. The game is rigged, folks.

The banks probably also want a lot of the consumer protections which Obama put in place to be repealed.
