The reasons are multifold. Here are a few:

People are noticing that businesses that incorporate more women on the board do much better. The female kind of intelligence is getting more noticed as something valuable and as an alternative, or at least a complement to the techy-ultra-rationalistic intelligence of men. This last type of intelligence has also been less important in academia since the decline of abstract-analysis type of thinking that was the hallmark of modernism. Women tend to think more holistically, which is better for the environment and the general "health" of the situation, for example in discussion or decision making, which in their approach often has a more "human" touch.

There is a lot of talk about women's intelligence now because it has been unnoticed for so long, or if it was noticed it was on the basis of mirroring men's intelligence.

I've seen this in several commercials. Buying x is smart, ad targeting women. I've heard women use this in the context of it being desirable. Just for shits and giggles I've offered it as a compliment to see how it would be received. Women like it. 'Gee that is smart of you to do.'

What do you make of this?

Jesus, just when I think we couldnt agree on something, you keep starting threads on things that I've always considered. Get outta my mind! ^^

On this particular subject, women are actually a bit more intelligent than men, but question themselves constantly. Its like a form of anxiety, and women just accept its existence.
The problem with this is that it makes women too open minded in a way. When making a decision, they have 50 different reasons to do 50 different things, and they dont have the confidence to override 49 of the reasons to find the 1 that is optimal.

Sounds terrible, but its actually very useful. If you give a woman a goal, she will accomplish it. When men will give up due to the goal not being compatible with common methods, the women will find 50 ways to make it work. There is evidence that the number of women in a work group is directly tied to how successful that work group is.
