I think we women like it because we are constantly pressured by society to be dumb, otherwise men won't like us. Remember 100 years ago when most men thought that politics was just so above the puny brain of a woman that they couldn't even be exposed to the topic or their poor little heads would explode or make silly conclusions? The greater number of educated unfortunately doesn't mean 'educated in useful fields'. Without that, the education just tends to be unnecessary debt, and of not much use to the society.

I have a theory that that's just a side-effect of being prettier. You put in less effort because you can. You form habits that make life easier for you. And if you don't need to really develop your brain power - you won't.

Also, men don't necessarily like stupid girls. Argumentative and critical is a very different thing... However, it takes courage to speak your mind and court conflict or ridicule, and really... why bother forming habits like that when you're getting appreciated anyway.

Exactly, I've seen plenty of men who like to show off their intelligence to "get girls". I've always thought of it as very insecure, and advertising prey on insecurities.

What I also found very interesting, is that my family in Italy kept telling me that being callidus in the end is a heck of a lot better than being intelligent, and they put it in very vulgar words. I always thought of if as it being cultural folklore, or a low blow for me since I was the only one to graduate high school and go to college in their side of the family... And it was the women in my family that kept saying that, more than the men.
