After I posted with Wordpad using a larger font size the overall forum display became larger, pictures as well as font size. A minor but annoying problem. What is the default forum font size? Maybe if I post with Wordpad again using the default forum font size the problem will be corrected. Thanks.

I think the forum's font size sets itself relative to your browser's settings. Some browsers have a "zoom in" feature (i've accidentally engaged mine by pressing ctrl while spinning mouse wheel) and some allow users to set display to larger fonts for readability.
Is this only occurring on the forum, or is it showing up like that on other websites as well? |

That's it. The zoom feature. Thanks. Looks like font size 2 is the norm. The zoom feature is nice and handy. I was mainly concerned about the size of the pictures I post. I didn't want to post pictures too large to be inconvenient for other users to see. Jezebel told me the ideal size is about 700x700 pixels if you don't use the hide feature, and 700x700 is about the right file size for the forum server/system. Do you happen to know when the hide feature will be back?

The size of the image won't affect the forum's resources, but it will make an impact on the hosting server, the receiving unit, and the tubes in-between, if the image is retrieved many times. Professional/industrial servers are made for that kind of thing though.
The size guidelines are more meant 1) to accommodate people with various display sizes, so that their forum viewing isn't altered by large images and 2) to avoid having to scroll for ages to get to the bottom of a page that contains several large images. The size guideline is mostly a suggestion though. While 700x700 is a good number, i don't think you're required to count pixels. Just use your best judgment on whether to conceal larger images. At worst, a mod may do it if the photo is deemed too large. Hide tags are disabled for maintenance and may not be back for some time. The [spoiler] tag has similar functionality, but you can't pass any values to be displayed in the tag itself. |

Thanks. I'm interested in using the spoiler.
