How much do you care about being intelligent?
Intelligence? Social intelligence? Emotional intelligence? Skills? Wisdom? Values? I wouldn't mind being called intelligent. I don't expect it. I'd like to know as much as possible. How much do you care about others realizing you are intelligent? I love it when I am recognized for something! Appreciation is always welcome. That usually means I achieved something. But then, what is intelligence to them? Wait, never mind. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. Do you use your intelligence mostly in secret or try to make it very public? Secretly. I honestly never thought about this before, but yes, secretly. I'd rather use the knowledge I have to set things in motion, than to just talk about whatever I learned. However, putting the knowledge in motion could of course be done by talking about the specific subject. What do you think about people trying to link NT with intelligence? Good for you! (I have no idea. I am not that involved, to be honest). What do you think about people trying to link their type with intelligence? Do they? Well, it's always worth a try right? It would be stupid not to. Everyone is good at something. Some just need a kick-in-the-***, a.k.a. motivation. What does intelligence matter, in terms of everything meaningful in life? Development. Learn new things. Discover. Curiosity. Saving money. Save the earth! Find love. Learn who you are, what you want and what you are good at, in order to create happiness in your life. How much do you care about being intelligent?
Intelligence is broad and relative. I don't believe there is a defined set of criteria for intelligence so I don't place much emphasis on "being" intelligent as to "acquiring" whatever "intelligence" might mean to myself or others. I care about learning is probably the better way to say it. How much do you care about others realizing you are intelligent? I do not care at all; it's silly to care about what others think and inefficient to utilize means to make others come to that kind of realisation. Do you use your intelligence mostly in secret or try to make it very public? In secret... it would be a very poorly-constructed strategy to publicise this kind of thing To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. What do you think about people trying to link NT with intelligence? They are good for psychoanalyses. There are no "absolute" characteristics to define intelligence with yet people are adept at formulating archetypes. It's interesting to see how certain people attach certain meanings to certain things. What do you think about people trying to link their type with intelligence? I am thinking "why" do people do that. They probably do not have a firm understanding of how things work. But I can think of a hundred other plausible explanations. Again, makes for interesting analyses. What does intelligence matter, in terms of everything meaningful in life? The short answers would be "nothing matters" and "meaning/value is relative". To some people, relationships mean everything to them. To other people, relationships mean nothing to them. To some people, social status means everything to them. To other people, social status means nothing to them. Meaning/value is personal and intelligence is no different from anything else that people attach meaning to. If it matters to you, then it matters. If it doesn't matter, then it doesn't matter. |

How much do you care about being intelligent?
I don't really feel the need to really care about being intelligent, but I guess it's what makes me, me. For most part that is, and I can't deny it either since most people judge me and tell me, 'man you're smart.' How much do you care about others realizing you are intelligent? Sometimes I do care about people realizing that I'm intelligent so that they can realize that I have a point, and just to make them realize that they shouldn't be so stubborn. What do you think about people trying to link NT with intelligence? I don't really have an opinion on that.. What do you think about people trying to link their type with intelligence? See the question above. What does intelligence matter, in terms of everything meaningful in life? It matters to alot I guess, you always use your brain for something, dontcha? 1. I care about being intelligent, but not so much that it consumes me. It's something I value.
2. I don't really care about others realizing I'm intelligent as long as they respect me and at least consider what I have to say. 3. I don't think it's in good taste to try to make it public. I mostly "show" it on the internet or when I'm writing. 4. Since I'm a psychology major and and INxJ, I'd like to think they're on to something. The fact is that everyone has the capacity for intelligence, but some have more of a capacity than others. 5. It could be that they're just full of it or they feel bias, but that's definitely not the case for everyone. For me it's mainly curiosity, but people should remember to stay open to the fact that everyone has the ability to be intelligent. 6. I feel that the more intelligent someone is, the more the person can be able to understand the experiences of life and handle his emotions enough to have a fulfilling life. On the other hand, I've seen people's intelligence make their life darker and more distressing because of the things they discovered about what's going on in the world and humanity as a whole. Usually, people who highly value justice feel this way. In the end, I think intelligence matters if you want to have a truly meaningful life. |

Intelligence is a powerful tool - I wouldn't care to waste whatever I have of it.
I don't. It seems a fruitless endeavor anyway.
It depends on the situation. If I'm trying to accomplish something and it's to my tactical advantage to keep things under wraps, then I will. But that's a rare situation. For the most part I am who I am and people can make what they will of that.
Mostly I wonder whether the definition of intelligence is too narrow, the same as our culture's is.
I try not to.
Of intelligence, wisdom and compassion, intelligence is by far the least important. |

INTJs almost always seem more intelligent than an IQ score would typically rate them. There is something about that combination of Intuition, Thinking and Judging that gives many INTJs the ability to 'Quickly think outside the box'. In modern society its a skill everyone wants...

I place intelligence toward the top of my priorties list. I'm always trying to gather more knowlege, whether it be a new skill or refining and strengthening a skill that I'm already good at. There's always room for improvement.
I don't care too much about people realizing and recognizing my intelligence. Actually, in my opinion, keeping one's intelligence hidden can be extremely useful in many situations.
It all depends on the situation and the subject matter. Writing to the local paper and voicing my opinion to the readers fits in the "worth my time and energy" criteria.
I think intelligence is highly vague. There are varying degrees of intelligence and varying types of intelligence. Different people are apt for excelling in different areas. There's "no one size fits all," or ever "one size fits most," approach for that matter. For example some people are amazing at assembling a jig-saw puzzle [not to be confused with, "Hello, (insert name here), I want to play a game.], but aren't mechanically inclined. For me, jig-saw puzzles raise my blood pressure, but I'm pretty mechanically inclined.
I think it's a waste of time because everyone is good at something, and not everyone has the same skill sets.
I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but it all depends on what you use your intelligence for. Everyone has a choice, or many for that matter, to use it for honest and productive things or wicked and harmful thing. |

1. How much do you care about being intelligent
Pretty much I guess. I'm okay with appearing dumb once in a while (e.g: asking for a hot ice lemon tea at the counter) but when it comes to my work, area of specialisation I want to be the one who is smart at it. 2. How much do you care about others realizing you are intelligent? Depends. To those who makes an impact to me; very. To those who I have less respect for and don't generally care.. well.. whatever. 3. Do you use your intelligence mostly in secret or try to make it very public? I know my area of specialisation and I'm usually responsive to help requests... I don't publicise it though. 4. What do you think about people trying to link NT with intelligence? I think intelligence can be one thing but it have to be coupled with maturity. I've met one or two INTJs and I think there's some link but it could be just me. 5. What do you think about people trying to link their type with intelligence? You know how kids try to highlight to others about their new toy? Yes, some people just never grow up but what does it matter..? People can judge for their own eventually. 6. What does intelligence matter, in terms of everything meaningful in life? I think it helps people to think things through more easily.. seeing things in more clarity of sorts. It could be a hindrance though.. especially when dealing with matters of the heart. |

How much do you care about being intelligent? I take pride in being well-informed and objective, and regularly make efforts to cultivate my knowledge base and reasoning ability for recreation. Also, I like having a big vocabulary. How much do you care about others realizing you are intelligent? It varies. I tend to use varying amounts of obfuscating stupidity to smooth over social situations, as well as to stay abridged of events around me. It is admittedly gratifying when someone realizes this. Do you use your intelligence mostly in secret or try to make it very public? As above, it varies. What do you think about people trying to link NT with intelligence? There may be substance to this position, but I doubt anyone could be objective about it. What do you think about people trying to link their type with intelligence? As above, though I would also add that there is more than one variety of intelligence and it would be a given that different types would excel in different brands of intellect. What does intelligence matter, in terms of everything meaningful in life? I personally place a high value on knowledge, I decided that my primary philosophical pursuit in life was "Truth". That being said, while we can attribute many things to our intellect, I wouldn't necessarily attribute all of our progress to genius. While codifying it into the scientific method was certainly monumentally helpful, it doesn't take a powerful mind (By human standards) to work out cause and effect. |

How much do you care about being intelligent?
Not too much. I want to have enough where I can see the world on the same level as other people, but I don't have huge aspirations so a lot of intelligence would be wasted on me. How much do you care about others realizing you are intelligent? I really don't want other people to think I'm talented, intelligent, skilled, etc. At least, I don't want friends/family to because then they get unrealistic expectations. I work hard, but I work hard for myself and at the level I feel comfortable. I want an employer to consider me intelligent and capable for obvious reasons, though. Do you use your intelligence mostly in secret or try to make it very public? I use it when necessary. Sometimes it is in public, sometimes by myself. Really doesn't matter either way. What do you think about people trying to link NT with intelligence? Ridiculous. If a test is skewed higher towards one personality type then it isn't a good measure of intelligence. What do you think about people trying to link their type with intelligence? Ridiculous for the same reason above. What does intelligence matter, in terms of everything meaningful in life? I don't really see any correlation with intelligence and meaning. |

In some cases, when I don't have time to test something, I apply my intuition (which of course in my estimation is merely a much more direct form of intellection). |

I don't think INTJs are particularly intelligent. Insightful may be, but most other types would match this attribute if they spent an equal amount of time thinking and pondering on issues. I would say personally that I have above average intelligence, however my measure of what's average is quite pessimistic as I despite the masses.

How much do you care about being intelligent?
Being intelligent is very important to me. How much do you care about others realizing you are intelligent? Don't really mind if other people realize whether i'm intelligent or not. When you first meet me you'd think I wasn't very intelligent. Do you use your intelligence mostly in secret or try to make it very public? Secret. What do you think about people trying to link NT with intelligence? Doesn't bother me. What do you think about people trying to link their type with intelligence? '' '' What does intelligence matter, in terms of everything meaningful in life? Agree with 'Atamagahen' on this one. I think wisdom is more important. |
