it's an <object> tag - I never tried to incorporate it. However maybe (my guess) it is an application limit (or safety measure: to allow an object tag you must be extra sure it is just a youtube video), and not a choice of the administrators.

That would make threads unvisitable for me. My shit can't handle a ton of Flash.

Why not? Why not just click on a link and wait the nanosecond it takes to open in a new tab?

extra steps regardless (flipping tabs is not my preference when i am reading a thread)

i wanted to know if it is tech reason (sec/load/etc) or something else

You can customize your browser to disable resource-heavy widgets.

Our reluctance to add this functionality follows from the issue zibber points out:

It's true that users can configure their browsers to handle these issues, but they tend to not do that and to close the window instead. We aren't opposed to the functionality itself, but we'll need it to be set up in such a way that it defaults to off and that users who do not enable the functionality automatically see a link instead. So, this is one of those custom coding projects that's on the list.
