INTJs will never die.

as uncommon as the personality type tends to be, I myself have run into several INTJs and have noticed something very interesting about all of them: they all behave differently in large social groups. after noticing this i started observing my own behavior and realized that I, like a vast majority of the population, behave differently in a group than when I am by myself or in a small group.

this interests me because as an INTJ I, and my other friends, should be reluctant to change our ways for society, authority, or anyone else, seeing how we usually tend to strive for intelligence and efficiency, but then i realized something: the change is efficient.

imagine if you behaved like an INTJ all the time towards everyone regardless of what the situation was. you would not only come off as peculiar, but in trying to explain your actions or words you would have to go to the very details in order for it to make sense to other people who aren't as observant as you. this would waste time and energy, and even worse would ruin possible chances you have in the future as far as careers and relationships go (our modern day personifications of survival).

so i believe INTJs are one of the few personality types that can create a second personality type (that still resembles themselves) in order to achieve their own personal goals.

I don't know if the Internet culture could create more INTJs, but I wonder if it's contributory.

I think the internet has made it easier to be certain types. Where before, perhaps an INTJ would have the option of either going to the library or staying at home, now there's a chance to browse ideas and talk with like-minded people without the trial and error of meatspace.

I had a conversation about this with an acquaintance once. We were discussing how many people are rather inflexible. They want what they want and talk about what they like and that's it. Granted, their topics of interest are closer to "mainstream" - talking about the current pop TV culture and Top 40 music and whatever. They reject anyone unlike themselves.

However, us crafty individuals can move in and out of different groups with comfort. From one day to the next I might dress in a suit and tie, to ripped up jeans, to khakis and a polo and be perfectly comfortable interacting with vastly different types of people.

I think this chameleon ability is an adaptation to compensate for our introverted propensity.

If its a random function of birth then people will keep being born like this randomly and so you will see the same spread of personality types.

I think there is a tendency for people of a certain generation to perceive the one after them as weird. My father always thought that my generation is way different (in a negative way) from theirs. Having encountered younger and more different generations than mine during the last few years, I prefer not to judge things the way my father did.

interesting topic indeed. Culture has been used as a WMD and is nothing more than Groupthink in disguise. Like a drug, the media feeds the 'sheeple' their perceptions of the shadows through television.

I don't know (and don't care) about the end of INTJs, but enough research tells me I should never let my future toddler near a TV, an iPad or a computer until he is at least in fifth grade. ADHD might have genetic roots, but these screens turn kids into mini-consumers and idiotic drones, restless for stimulation. In fact, I won't even have a TV in the house- I don't watch it myself, so why waste the money?

I would tend to agree. Twin's studies show that many personality traits are 30-60% heritable versus environmental. Nature and nurture play a very important role. ADHD is a natural reaction to the rapidly changing images on a TV screen and many studies have shown how even watching 30 minutes of TV a day can change the activation in the brain of a child. I really only watch stuff on netflix anymore if anything at all. I remember trying to watch regular TV and the constant flip-flop of show/commercials was so aggravating I just turned it off.

I think INTJ-s will take over the world until then...
jk,as most of INTJ are individuals, they are not that much affected with the world or the society they live in(trends, culture and other) as we really don't care that much of participating in it,hell bad society makes us what we are,the real INTJ-s...
INTJ tend to be different than the society,we will always see the flaws and problems with the society around us,as we are efficiency freaks, and I really think current call them rules of this world are not efficient particularly politics, culture the music, moral values, the list goes on...
I bet if any INTJ had a chance of being a ruler of some mighty country in the world(US,Russia or China),that country would become a equivalent of nazi Germany or Stalin Russia,in just a matter of days, not because we are "evil",but because we tend to control things and get them in order we think is right...
Longer we are a part of society as kids,we will see the problems faster, when we see the problem we tend to repair it or simply get away from it,and I think this is very important in the process of growing up into INTJ.

The sky isn't falling. Cartoons have been crap for years, that doesn't mean people are getting dumber. Also Avatar and Ponies
