Hi all,
First time post. A friend of mine directed me here, usually look at the forums for a laugh reassuring myself others are like me. Anyway.. Wondering if any of you have the same 'itch' I get after sorting things out in a job after two years I want out to another challenge. All good I seem to go higher every time but I have a family who I drag around as well! Cheers |

My max is 5yrs, and what do you know I'm coming up to that in approximately 6 months.

Haven't moved from my first job for the last 6 years. I've been seriously thinking of taking a new turn next year. The condition in my workplace appears to be becoming worse and more intoxicating as the days go by. Hope, my version of "the decision" would really pay off once I make the big move.

I stayed in my last job for 2 years 4 months, and I'll be leaving my current job soon after 1 year 7 months. My pattern seems to go like this: I spend the first 3-6 months learning like crazy, which is great. Then I spend the next 1-1.5 years consolidating my knowledge, driving change and being as efficient/useful as possible. Then the final 3-6 months are a downward spiral of dissatisfaction with corporate leadership. Rinse and repeat.

my max duration at one job is currently 20 months. Currently starting another one, though much lower pay than last one.

I don't always shift careers entirely but on average every 3-5 years I make some significant shift.
And yes, it's because I hit a point where the work is less of a challenge. I don't perform well when I'm bored. |

Yup, two years.
By then, the fire-fighting has stopped and the fires have been damped. Routine settles in and there are no more challenges. I want to develop my skills or my income and I've NEVER had an employer interested in making that happen. On top of that, usually one of my co-workers starts whipping the villagers into a frenzy by saying I'm an arrogant know-all (I'm not, I swear, it's just her projecting on to me) and I'm making them look bad. You're INTJs and you know that we avoid confrontation and prefer to keep our heads down and just get on with things. That's happened six times and it was started by a man just once. Hell, I know about the woman scorned bit but surely they can't figure they've been scorned because somebody who hardly knows them doesn't flirt back? Is it wrong of me to feel uncomfortable about being sexually harassed and refrain from colluding with it? Anyway - yeah, two years. That's what I'm saying. |

I have been with the same company for 15 years, but I have held 8 different positions in the company in that amount of time. That's provided me with quite a bit of change in responsibility over the years, so I have not been bored at all. Although I have had a number of interviews with other companies to explore other opportunities, I really don't like to company hop every couple years.
