I used to be afraid to spend money. I still might be afraid to spend money, but I'm happy with my spending habits now, and not putting myself in financial danger, and that's all that matters.

Does your girlfriend use guilt to manipulate you into spending? |

i wouldnt spend it unless you thought of some big project you want to work on. Like, if you think of a business to start, or some invention you want to create, you'll have tons of cash to do it, rather than spending it impulsively or in an unorganized fashion.

Well you're a very lucky fellow and I'm sure you will eventually find something. On my end I make good money, but then I have to add the childcare expenses, renting, a car, the bills, my mom, etc, etc.
But I do buy things, mainly electronics and collectibles when I can. So to answer your question, yes, I spend the little money I have on items that I either need and/or like. Lately a lot of it has been poured into starting my own business and getting the equipment to serve as both my small business network and my play-ground for teaching myself new technologies in order to keep up with my job. In any event, since you have lots of it, you could do any of the following: - look into starting your own business and/or partner up with someone (depending on the type of business it can keep the money flowing) - take a nice vacation once in a while to another country of interest - start a small account for your parents if you feel they could use some of the money once they reach retirement age (this is a nice gesture, I wish I could do the same for my mom *shrugs*) Also, don't over-analyze your spending, maybe that is what makes you freak out. Good luck. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I don't really enjoy spending money, in general. The only things I like to spend money on are electronics and clothing, but very limited. The rest I don't care so much about as I still live with my parents and I just don't need much.
Whenever I think about buying things, I start thinking about all the people who have less and whether it's really worth buying. Most of the time I'll come to the conclusion that I just don't need it. There are so many things I value much more than money, mostly intangible things. |

Anyone who makes well above the average income, saves money then complains about not enjoying it to some extent kind of annoys me. Just my personal opinion. There are way to many other problems that take precedence in my opinion than a "well off" persons inability to enjoy their money. The simple solution is to make a budget and set aside "spending money" that you can spend without any remorse.

To quote Einstein, "Each possession I own is but a stone around my neck." That's how I feel. I don't spend because I don't buy, because I don't want to think about and carry around stuff.
Also, all the things I want can't be bought, like wisdom. Well, if you spent enough you could convince everyone you had it, but you can't fool yourself. |
