Given the positive reception of the threads about INTJf personalities willing to share their experiences concerning (a) key aspect(s) of their lives:

Wouldn't it be better to put all of them in a specific subsection?

Something like:

>"self-help"/"Experience sharing">Ask a [...] a question>
  • Nudist
  • Sniper
  • Virgin
  • Sex guru
  • etc.

No sarcasm here by the way.

Funny you brought this up because I was just about to suggest an Ask Me a Question section. It has become hard to keep up with certain types of topics in the Members-only section because its inundated with posts of all sorts. I think the forum is in need of at least one more category.

As long as mine doesn't get made into a blog, I don't care.

Can you start an "Ask a person who submitted a request to add an 'Ask a <Random> a question' subsection" thread, so we can adequately discuss this?

At the very least, I think the admins would want to make sure this isn't just a passing phase/meme before doing anything.

Yeah I see the fads that come through. However I think that making such a section would prevent it from being passed off as a fad, even though the topic is being abused. If the section is made, eventually the parodies will phase out, or at the very least, be kept in the lounge or members-only sections.

Or maybe you could start a ""Ask a person who asked a person, who submitted a request to add an 'Ask a <Random> a question' subsection, to start the "Ask a person who submitted a request to add an 'Ask a <Random> a question' subsection" thread".

I think it's a great fucking idea, conceptually.

I also agree with Iota.

Yeah, so it's a fad, but mostly cause of all the poor satire. MechSun's idea has so much fucking potential, though. Experiences (and there are so so many interesting ones) generate a lot of discussion that doesn't fit in other categories outside of Member's Only, which I had originally chose because of the post-count-to-view rule, and open-forumed attitude.

Interested to see what happens with the...fad.

p.s.

agree with nowt 100%.

The IAmA meme appears to be here to stay (not limiting just to the scope of this forum), if Reddit is any indication.

There almost needs to be like a member-only "trial subsections" area, where things like this can be temporarily tried out to see if they stick. Maybe that's going overboard, but it's an idea :/

Maybe we should just have a 'copycat' section. Because the copycatting happens in many areas across the board. Basically if one thread gets so many copycats, all the copycats get dumped to that section.

I dunno, the "copycats" are often starting topics about the exact opposite/inverse of an existing thread -- which IMO is great because otherwise you get 1-sided debates. It's not -always- done in a good way, of course - but what is? I wouldn't want to throw out the good "other side of the story" threads by tossing them all into a dustbin.

I want credit for starting it, then. My credit = fucking hipsters ruin everything good.

I dream of a dewey decimal system of knowledge porn like this. Cream will rise.

Hence me saying,

Basically if one thread gets so many copycats, all the copycats get dumped to that section.

After a certain amount of copycats the threads get moved. So there is a 'limit' to copycatting.

The spawn threads will live or die based on the value of the input into each thread. The good ones will stick around and the bad ones will fade away. No need to move them or create a special section. In a day or two, most will fade and become page 2 news anyways.

Let them live where they are.

Boo. AGHRMS' thread was created first.

Originality is so underrated these days.... I find these threads entertaining personally. Like all mania, it'll pass.

I would normally agree with you guys on that, but these threads have surpassed the normal 5-6 threads that get made now. (I counted 23 on the first two pages)

Update: no subforum for these threads but I did add an "Ask and Tell" tag so they can be found easily. The link is at the top of Members Only since it has the highest concentration of these threads.
