I suggest that when users' posts are deleted they get notifications like they do for visitor messages. I sometimes don't notice a post of mine was deleted until some time after I had posted it, and I'm sure there have been some deletions I'm not aware of. I think this would help users to become better posters and learn to avoid making posts that would get deleted. Such a modification could lessen the moderation load. Unfortunately I don't see any mods for this but it should be fairly easy to implement.

Read this thread and see if you can understand our... lack of enthusiasm or support when this subject comes up.. again.

Should I read all 131 posts in that thread or could you link me to the one with the explanation? |

The vast majority of posts that get deleted on this forum are off-topic one-liners, simple "me too" type posts, and borderline rule 1 & 2 violations. They typically do not contain a substantial amount of content. Users are not notified about deletion of these posts because we don't want to initiate a discussion or argument with a moderator for every one of these posts. The amount of effort the user put into creating the post and the amount of effort the moderator would have to put into explaining why they deleted it would be disproportionate.
When we notice a user showing a pattern of making a lot of posts that are getting deleted we do notify the user so they can learn to stop. This is done either via private message or a formal warning depending on severity. |

I would recommend reading them all as there are multiple valid points within the thread. Although Jez has answered your question/complaint it's worth seeing the way a question/complaint has been answered in the past. However, with that said this post from another thread about the same topic should explain it further if you're interested. |

Please remember the mods do this in their free time. I don't think it's a huge hassle to skim a thread when presented with link. |
