To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. It happened when he was a child and he wrote about it in his book. To me this isn't even a big deal, or a little one for that matter. But for many people who treat dogs like they do people this situation could screw the pooch for Obama reelection. What do you think of this? |

If I had a dog, he would look just like the dog that Obama ate.

You guy's offer better entertainment than the story of Obama eating the meat of dog.
Disclosure: I'm not an Obama political supporter. |

Good fucking god, people, you are obsessed. Worse still, it's not just you - this story came from Breitbart, which in many places is considered real media. (Although truthfully, it's not - they post whatever Republican meme is available.) Worse even still, this was actually thought about by Republicans - polling has shown that people still remember Romney telling a story about tying his dog to the roof of the car for a family trip, and think it's pretty awful, so this is their attempt at "counterprogramming."
This is where the Republicans are in this country - if someone said "gee, Romney probably shouldn't tie dogs to the roof of his car," they put this story out so legions of dittoheads can now say "you think that's bad? Obama ate a dog!" Seriously, batshit insane. |

It's acceptable in other cultures. In china cats are a delicatesen, as well as chicks on eggs. Not appealing to many, but true. In africa some places have monkey.
So just because is not legal in the us, it doesn't mean it is in other places. |

From the article in the OP:
So a child eating dog meat in a culture where that's normal is equivalent to an adult putting a dog on the roof of his car through his own choice? |

I'm sure Obama didn't eat the entire dog. Bow bow meat tastes too terrible for anyone to consume in whole.

He did not eat a dog. He ate dog meat. Big difference.

While I dislike Obama, I have a lot less problem with someone eating dog than someone being a devout Mormon. I am a dog owner too.

Yet another talking point irrelevant to policy.
The propagation of simple memes for the simple minded; the political season is upon us. |

Please regale us with your stonily cool silence oh intelligent one. Hark, I hear thy mind's eye to be so o'er and above the common man. Thou art a pundit of extremely discerning taste and wit. Pardon me, but do you have any Grey Poupon? |

No idea why it would be relevant to reelection, but this intense focus on the personal lives of politicians seems odd to me in a country that supposedly values privacy. State authorities seem exempt in two ways: 1. their private lives are subject to scrutiny, and 2. they're given the right to override the privacy of citizens. Some idea of reciprocity underlying the exception?
Oh. Yeah, I'd say that's a pretty good description of his posts. Do you want some mustard on your hot dog? |

What kind of dog was it? Like, I would like our president to have some taste. If it was just some mangy homeless dog I'm not gonna vote for him, how distasteful. <-double meaning

I was fine with him signing the NDAA and racking up five trillion dollars in debt. But eating dog meat? That's going too far!

Why would you have a problem with a president being a member of tiny, persecuted sect that most Christians can't accept as Christian (I just heard the LDS don't actually believe in a Trinity--huge no-no). Are you a Christian fanatic? I think the absolute coolest thing about him is the fact that he's Mormon. |

The thing that makes this statement hilarious is that I'm reasonably certain that you're not joking. |

Reminds me of the phrase from the "Lord of the Rings" when one of the orcs says "Meats back on the menu boys!"
I find political garbage like this to be irrelevant to the ability of someone to run a country. I find it even more preposterous to see it highlighted here. Pet issues/food choice = ability to lead? Come on. |

People who get upset about this and eat meat shouldn't be allowed to vote.

I happen to think it's the only cool thing about him. I find Mormonism very intriguing, for a variety of reasons, good and bad. Romney, not so much. Or at all. |

I thought we were a country with standards. The president of the United States ate a dog.
